See? I knew we’d get back to Vitamin and Kandikane pretty soon. Unfortunately, we saw this coming before. Being Vitamin’s girlfriend is much too stressful for Kandikane. I feel sorry for Vitamin once again.
Seems like a place of EMPTINESS back at Patterson Playhouse ! ? And it’s now one month later, since the explosion (comic strip time) and it seems nothing has really changed there, Smoke (fire? or dust?) whatever is still rising ?
Still, Not a Sign of Police or Fire Services - or any accounting of others that may’ve been injured or died ? (Mel O Dee and the unnamed Floor Director - come to mind). We already heard (December 26th) that Vitamin and friend were unharmed. Concern for the other remains ! ?? But can we blame it all, on the absence of a 4th panel ? ;- )
Lizz , left by Tracy and Sam at the scene, as they pursued Gruesome, unaccountably abandoned her post (?) - before replacement officers arrived ? Not only are the Police not there, but they’re unaware that a dead body (Janitor Otis) remains under the theatre’s widow seat. Amounting to a new, additional charge of Murder against Gruesome,
Perhaps in the days ahead between the new birth and the above June and December romance, some ‘missing’ needed REALITY will ‘kick in’ ?Or do readers just continue to Applaud, and Live . . . with an “Unfinished Symphony”?
hey, here’s a question for y’all… and i am actually asking for clarification/help here so.. anyone chime in if you know.
does anyone remember WHEN exactly it was that Mike did that interview where he said that they had a story that was going to bring back The Brow’s Son (“and we even came up with a name for him too!” i believe was one of the things Mike had said)
was it a year.. maybe a year and a half ago? I also beleive that he had mentioned in that same interview that he was bringing Phishface back as well… so we’re still “in limbo” with a possible time/date for those two storylines?
At least he somewhat stuck to his “Sometime in Early January” prediction for the Nitrates.. tho they havent been since since what.. BEFORE Christmas?
Not to mention they STILL have Blaze Rize, BB Eyes, Mumbles, Doubleup, Meilies, Venus, The Blackhearts, Abner and Rikki, Mrs Flattop, and the mystery of Frankenmindy’s “budding powers” storylines to wrap up.
Anyone want to wager how long its gonna take for THOSE to get prominence?
Good morning y’all. Back to the Vitamin and Candycane.@seanyj: too many loose ends as SYDNEY PHILLIPS pointed out. This story needs more clarity.Have a prosperous day my friends.
Relative to the “reality” comment, I think when so much stuff is thrown into a story, the authors themselves get lost and loose ends are inevitably hanging out everywhere. For instance, Old Abner makes a one day appearance. Why? Maybe a straightforward tale might be in order for a change.
@ Ray Toler:Ray, that is a great comment you just posted. I like your reference to how Gould’s strip followed the seasons; I’ve commented on that myself, because it was a fascinating aspect of Dick Tracy to me. And your imaginary one-day wrap up strip was excellent – that is very, very Gouldian and something I wish Team Tracy would do.That said, I fully realize that each writer and artist must bring their own talents and personality to the strip, otherwise they would just be trying to “clone” Gould’s work. They must be walking a fine line there, as well, trying to be true to the spirit and history of a much beloved comic strip while also creating new material. Team Tracy: if you are reading this, we appreciate what you are doing.
Overall I enjoyed the Gruesome story. The loose ends are easier to ignore than in previous stories and most important to me was the presence of a believable ending, not like the Nitrates or the Kadaver Cement Survival. My hope is that this writing team is improving, and that our comments here are helping. Certainly the artwork is far superior than anything since the Gould days. I also think the stories begin very well, but finish abruptly and in some cases are unfinished. It seems to be improving…..
Tarry, thanks for clarifying for me yesterday.. i had seen the “charlie thing” in different places but didnt know what it was for.. and of course i heard about the shootings, its all the news on tv and radio were talking about but they DIDNT mention the name of the magazine.. they simply said it was a “satirical magazine”… if they had said “CHARLIE” (whatever) then it would have made sense to me when i saw it yesterday
What I am hoping for is to get in touch with Ricci Mortis and ask her for a date. If she says yes, I’ll contact my pal Vitamin and arrange for a double date. Vitamin and Kandi, me and Ricci (hubba, hubba!). We’ll ride in the death coach to the Naperville Drive In Theater and watch their “monster marathon”! Those are my plans.
filmings over, so Kandi’s act is as well….what a bull____ line. Right up there with the “friends can’t be…” one. The age difference pales in relation to the integrity one…..

Oh, for the love of it! How many strips will we have to go through before we find out if the baby’s a boy or a girl? Another month’s worth?
