What does Janis DO for work? Or either of them? it’s never mentioned – I just realized that. Such a big part of their lives is completely ignored….

To give Arlo credit, she didn’t give any hint how “well” she had done; I’d be expecting the local Italian Place, but she obviously has something more in mind.

BTW, this is hubby and me – we never look as if we are going the same place. I have finally convinced him to wear a sports coat and a cross for church, but the last time he wore a suit was to my sister’s funeral in 2010.

This is the first time anything relating to work has been said in a very long time. I thought they had both retired. We used to see them getting ready for work frequently.

Looks like Janis is planning a evening of fine dining. A gourmet meal, a bottle of wine, pleasant conversation. I wonder what’s for dessert?

Rule 39 – the LBD requires a suit to accompany it

This cartoon printed in black & white in my newspaper. Thus it made absolutely no sense. Makes only SLIGHTLY more sense in color. Gray suit? White suit? Brown suit? Perhaps if he had drawn the jacket as looking super-casual, but instead it’s drawn as a normal suit; could be any suit jacket. Arlo could be wearing an expensive suit for all we know, and she’s just objecting to the color, for a reason only known to Janis, and not shared with the readers. …Seriously, if the name wasn’t already taken, this series could very easily go by the name “Non-Sequitor.”

I guess they’re not going for wings and beer.

If I’m Arlo, that last panel has me wondering if dessert involves a night at the Notell Motel.
