Man, they started ‘em young even in 1995. An existential crisis at the ripe old age of 6. "It’s all over. We’re all gonna die. It’s pointless, why even bother?"

Of course you are absolutely right. He/She (whatever) does indeed spit out that vitriol all over GoComics. It does get a bit tiring, not to mention sad on so many levels.

Today Calvin has turned the art of snowman-building into “all work and no play.”

Hey! You got “poo” in your answer to exoticdoc2, too!!Thanks for the link. It looks interesting. By the by, you misunderstood my comment regarding “fear of God” a few days back, but I really didn’t have a purpose other than (philosophic) discussion and it seems I pushed your buttons a bit (not meaning to, truly); I had no real reason to pursue the topic. In the end, finding fulfillment in loving and enriching human relations is worthy and estimable, and I wish to convey that I would never argue against such a thing (like I said, merely a desire for philosophic discussion).

A have a set of bookmarks just for snappy (read: somewhat disdainful and patronizing) answers to inane assertions. Your " 10 Commandments" link will go in it. I have to point out, though, that one of them is incorrect: number four, begging the question/circular reasoning, which reads: Thou shall not argue thy position by assuming one its premises is true. (“Begging the Question”).should read: “Thou shall not argue thy position by making of your conclusion a premiss.”

Maybe Calvin needs to “Brainstorm” with Hobbes. It was a bizarre film with bizarre Christopher Walken and it was Natalie Wood’s last film role…

Maybe back then he could vicariously experience the activity of actors pretending to do things, but now he would mostly see non-trained amateurs trying to be famous.

“A nonchristian is not in a position to tell a Christian how they should relate.”Any person has a right to respond to another’s public declaration. Anyone who makes public profession of belief exposes him/herself to scrutiny of how his actions/pronouncements comport with his professed beliefs. If exoticdoc2 has claimed Christian values, then subsequently made statements such as:“Calvin, well on his way to taking place among the entitled government slobs who collect a paycheck for doing virtually nothing each day. Alternatively, he could join the ranks of the entitled welfare recipients.”then it is not at all unreasonable that he be called to answer why he should be considered a Christian, if he despises charity, a cornerstone of Christian identity. Doesn’t have to be Christian to call foul, abhorrence of hypocrisy is non-denominational and need not suffer a test of religion or non-religion.

If I come across a post where I disagree with the message, yet it is well within the realm of free speech, is simply a matter of opinion, and is not a personal attack on someone or their beliefs, I tend to ignore it. However, do you not see the hypocrisy in your reply to exoticdoc2? If you yourself are not going to be tolerant of other people’s opinions, you have no right to accuse others of “contempt, scorn, discrimination and outright hatred for anyone who doesn’t conform to the impregnable constraints of your beliefs.” You can’t possibly fully know a person or their faith through a few posts on an entertainment website. While you have a right to respond to posts you disagree with, exoticdoc2 also has a right to post. I disagree with many posts on here, especially when they appear to want to start an argument or when the post tries to pull a political statement from a non-political cartoon, such as this one. I typically just ignore them. I suggest you read your own post again and see if any of your descriptions of exoticdoc2 could apply to you as well.

@Snoopy_Fan: Yes, you are correct — July 20, 1969 was the day of the first moon landing. The plaque on the lunar lander says, “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon. July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.” Interestingly, it doesn’t say July 20th, because there was always a chance that the launch could have been delayed a day or more, which couldn’t be known when the plaque was manufactured.
