Transcript:
Phoebe: NOW can I play "Irritated Birds" on my phone? Dad: Have you beaten five levels of "Dot-Eating Circle Man?" Phoebe: Yeeesssss, Daaaaad. Dad says he's still trying to instill an understanding of the classics. Marigold: That game has always made me hungry for dots.

Dot eating circle man can just pack away those dots, like some kind of packing… circle man.

Irritated Birds must be the less violent version of Angry Birds.
“And when I was a kid, little missy, we played cool games at arcades or lame, blocky games at home. Smart phones? Pffpt!”

That looks like an Atari 2600 joystick. Dot Eating Circle Man on the 2600 was a horrible game

Actually, I am the one who once played the very first video game, Computer Space. I only got to play it once, because my local arcade got rid of it for being a dud. Yet I felt at the time that there was something special about this new type of machine.

Even when I love new gen games, I still enjoy classic games from an Atari 2600.

I think I’m the only person on the planet who hasn’t ever played Angry Birds…

Don’t forget to have Phoebe play Space Rock Destroyer (aka Asteroids.)

Ugh. Forcing someone to do something is the surefire way to make sure they don’t appreciate it.

Actually, the first video game was “Space War”, played at university computer labs in the 60s, featuring two spaceships with missile/torpedo launchers in their noses shooting at each other on opposite sides of a common orbit around a star. At the time, it required a mainframe, or at least a mini, and a vector-type display (such as was used in “Asteroids”). You had to do orbital mechanics in your head merely to survive, let alone win.

Gotta love copyright rules! Instead of Angry Birds and Pac Man, it’s gotta be those alternate names shown here. :P
