Almost half a century is considered the distant future?

The only way peanuts would go out of print is if comic strips ceased to exist.

Also, realize that it is 2517, but that doesn’t mean from the same point and with the same units that we are currently at 2015. It could be counting half-lives from the first global atomic war, for all we know.

But without another time-traveling device where he’s at, how’s he going to get back to 2015?

He could have traveled to the distant future and picked up an old 2517 newspaper.

Big Al’s living in that air conditioned dome in the background. He can afford the electric bill.

Even 500 years in the future, rerun strips are still taking up space that could be used to give wider exposure to newer cartoonists.I’ll bet they’re still printing “For Better or Worse” in the papers too.

Isn’t a million reader polls in 500 years a bit excessive?

Fun fact: Mark Tatulli was personally confronted by someone who blamed him for a newspaper dropping “Peanuts.” Reruns, mind you. I don’t begrudge Tatulli some bafflement at its popularity.

I grew up with Peanuts, but being the mother of four lively boys I LOVE Lio!

When Cathy Guisewite ended “Cathy”, I admired her for her decision not to allow reruns so the space would be available for up-and-coming cartoonists. If you want to read “Peanuts” forever, they’re all available in books.
