Now when ‘humans’ design ‘scratching posts’ they should pattern them after the things cats are attracted to and claw-up.

This just in to CN. There is a new scratching post that just walked in the door. Those yoga pants look like they were made to sink your claws in to.

i tried squirt bottles and even super soakers. It turns out that Bengals LOVE water however it is presented to them and will repeat the behavior that led to water being shot at them. When shot with water them would rear up and present other parts of their bodies to get wet then bat the water and try to drink. I ended up with wet cats and a wet house. Double sided tape didn’t fare much better they used it as a way to clean off excess dirt and fur.I do have 1 cat tree that is 7’ tall, 1 that is 5’ tall and 2 that are 4’ tall they just like to shred and counter surf sometimes.

Cats love to scratch on the heavy canvas used for rolling suitcases.

Cats gotta scratch. If you are not prepared to live with the claws, don’t get a cat.

(Yes, I know there is a declawing operation, but it is illegal in civilized countries like the UK and Australia.)

I reinforce with praise and treats when my cat uses the post. I spray Feliway on the “bad” places.

My last cat never got onto scratching posts. I covered my couch in sheets.

My childhood cat Stormy however, used only the scratching post and loved it. we replaced it several times over the 20 years she lived.

I like these cats.
