Good Morning, Nice to hear the “deal” went down and Hoppy has a new forever home.Inspiration to name a pet usually comes pretty fast for me, so few have left me stumped. I did name one Cat I had “Kitty Boy” which I freely admitted was very lazy.Chester was named in the first 10 minutes, he was so Orange, he became Chester Cheeto. The other 3 took a bit longer.I feel a bit guilty having all these 3 day weekends thanks to the weather and the calendar. I’m still used to those 90 hour weeks. When my co-workers complain about the job or tasks, I chuckle and usually make some comment about how they don’t know how lucky they are. A real restaurant job would probably kill them.Poodle thinks Tuesday is just Monday’s sequel. She’s gonna just sleep through today.
I have a friend who name a kitten Jesse but never called him that. She just clapped her hand and yelled HURRY UP so he would go to her. Now he thinks his name is HURRY UP.
Casper came to us with his name. Moose and Scooter were easy. Buckwheat and Spot were easy. Morgan came with her name, too.
I have been over and over so many names, and normally would not use a name from the past, but Blue Kitty seems to fit him perfectly. He is stunning, and very muscular – perhaps due to his not being neutered until recently? Henry, Silver and Parker were my next choices, but Blue Kitty it is. Sneakers and Blue were my first real introduction to cats from an old boyfriend who loved siamese. I didn’t get it at the time we adopted them (I always had parakeets and other birds), but when I left him a few years later I was adamant that they were coming with me. And within a few years I adopted 4 more, all talky siamese mix.
Hello, everyone. Off to doctor’s later for monthly checkup and will have her look at my big toes again. Hard to do anything this morning as, on top of everything, Yum Yum is very sucky and chatty this morning.
shikamooI don't get down to Toronto very often, usually just to mother-in-law's in Woodbridge. If you are coming up to Barrie, either send me an e-mail at gadenbabyhotmail.com or call 705-503-0552. It would be a real thrill to meet another Ten Cat person in person.
Our flock of hooligans will soon be having new fun.
We purchased a couple of lightweight seed starting greenhouses – five feet tall, two feet wide, foot and a half deep – plastic zippered covering.
We know that individually they’re going to try to get at the tasty green salad inside. Then, if they fail, they’ll do what they always do – Cat Council and they’ll actually collaborate on a way to knock the things over of get through the plastic…
My nominee for “Greatest Cat Who Ever Lived” was actually named Tomcat, but I noticed early on he answered to “Damn you, get outa there!!!”. He heard it often enough…… he was my buddy. He’d jump up on the kitchen sink just to get me to holler at him. Fun game………… ;-)
Okay. You proved your point Chesney, now pass the jam. 2oldd – love the pictures. Ahhhh, the life of a cat! A_Dream4u – sweet pictures and cute names. jessegooddoggy – good name.
Our first kitten was Spot. A friend got her from her sisters’s friend and brought her to me sight unseen. We had just moved into condo and I wanted a cat. Cathi called me about the kitten and I said JUST PICK ONE and bring it to me. I didn’t care about color or gender. The first morning after we had her, my daughter named her Spot because she had dark spots on her beige coat. Well, they were not spots at all.We found her in the cold fireplace ashes when we got home from work and those were her spots. We gave her a bath and got a big glass fireplace door to keep her out.
She was about 7 weeks old. Right after that, my daughter said her friend had kittens she had to get rid of. She promised that they were over 6 weeks old. We drove over, got a little black handful of fur. Drove right to the vet. That baby was no more than 4 weeks old and needed bottle feeding. He became MY baby. I rocked Buckwheat, I fed him, I loved him. He grew into a gorgeous, sleek black PAIN IN THE PATOOTIE. He ate cords, plastic, fabric, earplugs, etc. Not just chewed – ATE THEM. I spent thousands on surgeries and hospital stays to get that stuff out of him. But he was my baby. He and Spot were BFFs. They hated poor old Spuds, the one we got from the shelter. They would sit on the dining room chairs and drop onto Spuds as he walked by. We lost Spot first, to cancer. Then Buckwheat to feline leukemia. Finally, at 19, we lost Spuds 6 months after we moved to Utah. He was white with black markings and a little Maynard G Krebs goatee.
jessegooddoggy: Blue seems fitting but I have feeling I will always think of him as Hoppy.
@RikkiTavi…my fav picture is lazy mom and kitten.@Ladykat…I made a note of your phone # too. @Jessegooddoggy…Blue Kitty works!!!!! Your cat stories are wonderful. Gosh, I love TEN CATS where fans can get to exchange these great comments.
Our first cat was a charcoal gray cat I named Wendy. I was p,g, at the time and I wanted to name the baby (if it was a girl) Wendy but Husband vetoed that, so the cat got the name. She slept in the bassinet with the baby all the time, thus fostering a life-long love of cats in my daughter!
Gweedo…have not seen an attachment thingy, but will look outside when the ice melts. (next week, ha). More snow coming in tonight and Fri., Sat. and Sun, too.
Had to come say hello while Sis is napping.Gulfport Mississippi is gorgeous and oh so warm! Its nice being in the 60’s when its temperature you are talking about and not age! – lol – Awesome pics and stories today!Frankie is in my lineup now as well. New Cat strips are always welcome in my lineup. (and its Siamese/Ragdoll!)Hope everyone is well and feeling like the comics – funny!
Busy all day long. Very unusual for me. Late in the day I took kitten to PetCo to his new mom and dad. She works there and he came to pick baby up. After a few more errands, back to PetCo to bring Natasha home for a few days. She’s solid black and so far has a sweet personality. She’s been there for nearly 2 months, adopted twice and returned twice. I don’t know why, tho. Susan would know but she’s very sick and don’t want to call her again.
Anyway, I thought a few days out of the PetCo facility would do her some good. She’ll be here in the den with me where I can see what her personality is like. The employee who put her in my carrier said he likes her a lot and spends a lot of time playing with her and petting her.
She and Moose have sniffed under the glass doors and no hissing or growling went on. So, if all is well in the morning, I might let Moose in to visit. We’ll see.
Well, I thought I’d write my first cats story (as an adult, always surrounded by cats as a kid). I had just started my first teaching job and was sitting in the teacher’s lounge eating my lunch (I was shy) and two teachers came in talking about one of their cats who had had kittens. She mentioned that she had been unable to find homes for the last two and her husband was going to drowned them. I popped up and said I would take them. They were white, semi long haired boys….just about twins. I named them Martin and Luther. Don’t laugh. This was for the protestant revolution Martin Luther who was quite brave. These boys went deaf fairly young, but each lasted about 14 years.
