The only good thing I can see about Annie ceasing would be she can finally go to school! Is that the truant officer kidnapping her? He looks like “Daddy” to me! Hate to nitpick but Annie’s hands are first behind her back on Sunday then in front. Not possible. Hope we’re not getting sloppy seconds.

    Peace.

If you hands are behind you and you lie in a fetal position, lift you knees to your chest, then you can work them in front of you.

What a delight. The sock puppet posters have sucked all the life out of this strip, so they’re gone.

So we’ll end up not seeing Xaxos again? And we’ll never learn what really happened to Punjab and The Asp? Bummer! Jay Maeder and Ted Slampyak were the perfect pair for this strip. When Andrew Pepoy joined originally I was kind of interested as he has worked in comic books on some of my favorite titles, but something was a bit off. Then Alan Kupperberg replaced him and even though the artistic side didn’t measure up, he still brought a fun run along with him. I recall an episode early on where they did a Captain Marvel (the Fawcett version, not the Marvel one) character and he looked exactly like the original. Also brought in a version of The Three Stooges and it was hilarious! However, when Slampyak took over, that was the perfect fit. He was the artist more closely aligned with Harold Gray’s work. This team will be sorely missed.

Annie’s strip ending would not be so bad if they would just end this story and give it a happy ending. Bombard the company that owns Annie with e-mails and phone calls and demand that they do this!

I’m pretty sure she has private tutors and I’m sure Daddy shows her how you run a large company to make her a worthy heir so she can make it without his money

It was supposed to have ended YESTERDAY. Looks like it only ended in the Chicago Tribune.

The only problem with this is that Sunday’s panel 3 shows her hands tied behind her back & panel 4 shows them in front. Not possible in the time frame.

I cannot recall ever seeing a tutor even hinted at in many, many years. “Daddy” has allowed Annie to become a school dropout!

According to Wikipedia the end date for the strip is actually June 13th 2010.

Doesn’t anyone remember that month long story of Annie being tutored? It was quite exciting! She pulled an all-nighter and aced the algebra test. I’ll never forget it.

I’m wondering at what point Slampyak and Maeder learned of the decision and whether we’ll see any hint of it in the strips in the remaining weeks. But probably not, considering that there will be no closure. Sad, and IMO very disrepectful of the audience on the part of the syndicate.

As long as I’m engaging in pointless speculations, I wonder if we’ll get reruns and from how far back. With all due respect to M&S, it would be wonderful to go back to the original Harold Grey.

How long ago was that? Even if correct, one month long story doesn’t make up for decades of neglect!

I meant decades without showing Annie getting any kind of education.

BASSMANBOB6, Annie learned her lessons in the “school of hard knocks”.

wndrwrthg, it’s alway’s been a pet peeve of mine, Annie’s lack of proper schooling. Oh well, I suppose she’ll have all the time in the world to catch up after June 13th.

    VIVA LA ANNIE!!!

Sandy will have a hard time following/finding Annie, now.

I used to go to that school, then I transferred to Mickey Mouse University and graduated with a Masters in Improvisation. Hard knocks often come from ‘what shall I do confusion’.

Note to pschearer: A lot of the Harold Gray material has already been reprinted in the IDW hardcovers. I just found out that volume 5 is scheduled to ship next week, and should bring events up to somewhere in 1935. I would be more interested in seeing the Leonard Starr years, 1979-2000, by that’s just my wants. Where this site intends to go remains to be seen. Tune in June 14th and hope your wishes come true.

How old is the car he stole? And, in what country was it first sold? Cars these days, at least in the U.S., have an interior trunk release, with a glow-in-the-dark handle to prevent people from being trapped in the trunk.

Jogger2, that’s a good point! However, based on the car’s appearance in yesterday’s installment, with its boxy, upright profile, I’d say it could easily be a 20 or 30 year old Peugeot.
