Girl: "St. Patrick's day was named after the patron saint of overtime." An interview with my aunt Emily.
Mrs. Olsen: Is your aunt a waitress?
Girl: Aunt Emily is a police officer.
Some cash strapped states have realized there’s good money in DUI fines and reinstatement fees. Take Ohio, where the last attempt to lower the legal limit went so low, MADD opposed it. Now that’s low!
jessegooddoggy: Early in my professional (as opposed to going where the need was) ministry, I went from Abilene (100,000 population, Dyass AFB adjoining, dry) to El Campo (10,000 population, nothing except rice paddies near by, wet) and found more drunks on the streets in the latter.
I live in an area with a next to 0 Irish Catholic population. The faux Pub may have a special on Guinness today, but that’s about it as far as St. Paddy’s Day observances.
In our state, as in many others, it is legal to drive if you are under .08. But let’s suppose you are driving along at .06, and stop at a traffic light. You are sitting there, minding your own business, when someone hits you from behind. You are now DUI, and the accident is your fault.
