Here is a Calvin and Hobbes from 1986, nine years earlier than today’s strip. Notice that Miss Wormwood looked a bit different back then.Calvin and Hobbes (April 15, 1986)Peanuts (September 13, 1952)Peanuts (December 6, 1998)Peanuts (November 1, 1974)
I tried that in 2nd grade and my teacher used the ‘jump rope’ and tied me in my seat. Thought I would get some sympathy when I got home but she had called and talked to my Mother ahead of my arrival for lunch and got a lecture instead !
My second grade teacher was similar to her: I would have loved to see either one of them run that fast and tackle a little kid. THAT would be entertainment. Nowadays, can teachers still even touch students anymore?
I wonder if this was BW’s state of mind leading up to his retirement. In his very last strip, he put it much more poetically than Calvin though. He said, “Let’s go exploring” instead of “Lemme outta here!!!”
Mrs. Wormwood is one of two characters whose last name we know. The other is Susie Derkins. In fact Susie is the only character who has two names. Everyone else goes by one name. In fact, do we even know the names of Calvin’s parents?
ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch medown the mississippi to the gulf of mexico!!!!Go Calvin Go Duck Weave – You Only got 1 life to liveLive It Free!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t dare touch a student, and if I’m in a room alone and a student comes in, I’ll either head for the door to go outside or at least prop it open.
I recently saw a two-panel cartoon. In the first, titled 50 Years Ago, two parents are standing in front of a teacher sitting at her desk. They point to a report card and glare at their cowering son standing next to them and say, "What’s with these bad grades?!
In the second (Today) same caption, except the parents are glaring at the cowering teacher as the son stands smugly beside them.
Actually, children today do NOT have plenty of time outdoors. Children are not allowed to roam freely the way we did when we were children.
People who got to run around outside do not realize how valuable that time was for good mental, emotional and social development. And then they wonder why the younger generation spends all their time hunched over electronic devices.

The existential crisis explained, expressed and quenched in 4 panels. Brialliant.

I’m thinking Miss Wormwood isn’t so far from screaming the same thing.

I was wondering if I got this right.

Use the water to swallow a couple of chill pills as well.
Still, I don’t really blame Calvin. It is Friday after all!

At least Miss Wormwood seems understanding enough to give suggestions in order to cope with the problem.
