December 26, 2008: Puddles survives a momentary scare when a lump discovered just before Christmas turns out not to be cancerous. Luann doesn’t get any of the gifts on her wishlist, but says:
“I got a healthy dog instead. Way better.”
Can any of us who have ever had companion animals not tear up at that?
http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2008/10/11#mutable_643433Brad and toni has been one of my favorite arcs in this strip. I remembered i read this strip almost 8 years ago when brad had just met toni and i remember laughing so hard that i came back and reread the whole 23 years worth of strips a few years later (yea took forever) so ti chose this photo of toni and brad is one of the most memorable moment (other than toni proposing )
My favorite was from February 15th 2013 when all of Luann’s family and friends helped to do the surprise Valentine’s http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2013/02/15
My favorite strip was from July 21, 2009 when Toni told Brad she loved him which proves beauty and brains can go together and good guys can finish first. Now after almost 6 years, do I hear wedding bells, if only faintly?
It’s hard to pick just one, but I try.1) http://www.gocomics.com/luann/1992/01/25Because the answer here is fantastic.2) http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2014/09/06Because is so true.
Its gotta be when Luann reveals that she unplugged the school library phone while stuck in the library with Aaron.http://www.gocomics.com/luann/1999/11/12Luann got more of a 16th birthday makeover than everyone thought.
I’d say the story line of September 1999 was my most favorite plot! Here’s one of the strips I remember reading on the newspaper on the exact day it was printed on September 4, 1999http://www.gocomics.com/luann/1999/09/04
Because coincidentally, I too was starting my very first year of high school! Luann and I had a lot in common throughout the years. Being normal teenaged girls, wanting to be one of the pretty popular girls, trying to dress nicely to attract boys, and dreams of being a huge celebrity!
And this strip from when she met Clay Aiken on January 1st 2004! http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2004/01/01
Another coincidence is that I MET CLAY AIKEN TOO!!I met Clay and Ruben Studdard in 2003!!I had a concert ticket for the American Idol season 2 tour as a high school graduation gift from my foster mother! After the concert ended I waited outside by the buses for the stars to come out and that was how I met Clay and Ruben!
Luann is one of the best slice of life comics I’ve ever read (besides For Better or For Worse) and she makes the perfect example for many teenaged girls out there growing up. Going through a lot of drama, hoping to make it big in the future, following her own path, and having the right friends to support her! (Luann would’ve made a great movie and TV show besides Mean Girls, The Duff and Ugly Betty! LOL!!)
The comic strip of October 5, 1997 was the very first strip I’ve read of Luann. And I was in 7th grade.
In 2008, I found out that Luann began in 1985! I had no idea Luann ran that long! Luann sure did came a long way! She was older than me when she turned 16 in 1999. But now she’s 18 and I’m 30!! I’m older than her!!
I enjoyed reading Luann because I could see myself in her!
Well except that she’s a little bit more lucky because she now has a good looking boyfriend that actually loves her back!
To be honest I wish to see Aaron Hill and Miguel once again in the comics fighting for Luann’s affections.
I loved this strip! Ah, the rivalry and jealousy and Luann never noticed! http://www.gocomics.com/luann/1999/09/24
In fact I wish they both come back and fight Quill for Luann! And I could totally see Tiffany waving her poms poms saying…..“Go go boys! If Luann can’t pick you, I’ll be your toy!” LOL!!
And lastly this strip! http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2013/10/13
Because it shows how true reality really is! Especially the relationship between a father and his growing up daughter! “If you want a bunch of stuff, you got to work hard for them!”
I was touched by the scene where Quill and Luann were getting “very close” on the sofa, then he gets a call from his father to return to Australia. The look on Luann’s face as he closed the door on the way out was priceless. You could tell she was heartbroken, and the way Greg drew her as she stood there looking at the door after he left moved me to tears. I had this image stuck in my head for a long time. Anyone who has experienced loss in their relationship can relate to the way she felt on that panel. A very important moment in her life, and for me, a milestone for the Luann strip. It’s part of growing up.
My favourite ishttp://www.gocomics.com/luann/2007/02/11
It just is exactly how my life is. Hard day at work, but as soon as I come home, my pup makes everything better! I saved that one that day and look at it often.
http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2010/06/20Hard to pick one, but I’ll choose this one because it is exactly how Father’s Day goes with my own teenage daughter!
I have to pick A favorite strip? Is that even possible? Oh my goodness! Luann is my all-time favorite comic strip. I don’t remember when I started reading it, but I can’t stop"
Anyway, on to the subject at hand: I have absolutely LOVED every minute of the Quill/Luann story. March 3 & 4, 2013 when they finally decided that they wanted to be more than friends; that was the slow burn buildup to this awesome relationship. How they are taking time to make something work is reminiscent of the Brad/Tony storyline. That being said, my ALL-TIME FAVORITE (since I HAVE to choose one :-( ) is….drum roll “REUNITED… and it feels so good!”
My Favorite strip of Luann is the first one because that is when this wonderful strip that i’ve read for decades started. It has given me countless smiles over the years. http://www.gocomics.com/luann/1985/03/17
It started on June 28,1998 and ran for three consecutive Sundays. It was the last ones where Lindy appeared. Her and Shannon took Puddles out in the toy stroller and he went down the hill and ended up in the mail truck. The mail lady brought him back.
There’s a lot of strips that I’ve really enjoyed and it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I’d have to say this one…http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2014/10/04
It matches my relationship with my little brother pretty well. As kids we fought all the time, but as we got older we started really relating to each other.
Great comic Greg, I read every morning and it always makes my day! :)
the series where Puddles visits Santa Claus at the North Pole comes to mind, as well as most anything with T.J., who’s pretty much the modern day comics strip world’s equivalent to Beaver Cleaver’s older brother’s friend, Eddie Haskell.
The strip I think of was years ago now, & I’d have no idea how to find it. (No time to browse through 30 years’ worth of stuff. Sorry.) Memory’s kind of hazy, but it was sort of the culmination of the long-running (off & on) thread of Brad & Dirk & Toni. Brad pulled up his car & ordered Toni to get in.Back in those days, I’d see the Freep a couple of days a week; it wasn’t my usual paper, & that one did NOT include Luann. After a while I decided that Luann was one that was well worth reading. I was glad, three or four years ago, to discover the strip on line, & I read it most every day now.
Sorry, I can’t identify the strip by date or otherwise. I had clipped it and would show it to people. But it got lost in a room cleanup. The strip shows Luann , dressed inappropriately, and resisting her mother’s warning about it. Bernice comes in, tells Luann that her appearance is “a bit much.” So Luann says she’ll go change. Luan would dismiss her mother’s advice but accepted Bernice’s same advice.. I used to show the strip to mothers who had raised teenagers. So true.
I dont know how to find the comic and it may have been a placyed out over a few days but when Luann figured out her brother was no longer a dork and he realized they could be friends.
It’s SO hard to pick one favorite because I have several. But for this contest I will have to say that Luann and Gunther’s bike ride would be it. The storyline started on July 21st and went through August 23rd 2001. http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2001/07/31I also loved the Bernice and Zane storyline that began during the summer of the same year. And, of course, Brad and TJ began school to become firefighters not too long after that, so Toni was introduced. To me, these story lines are some of the best and have continued to be some of the best over the years. Thanks Greg for such a wonderful comic strip!
Www.gocomics/Luann/1997/03/24 Luann was recording her diary entry, and she was extolling the qualities of her best friend – Puddles. I had recently lost my “best friend” and this really touched my heart. I still have the original strip in my desk. It still touches my heart.
Storyline: Luann and Delta kidnap Bernice!<http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2003/09/22>September 22, 2003The storyline is greater than the sum of its strips and does what ‘Luann’ does best – hilarity ensues mainly from the many plausible moments of tension between its leads. There are also two moments of quiet wisdom. The first – that certain outrageous liberties can be taken between the best of friends that only serves to strengthen friendship; and the words of Mrs. Horner about how anger at lies lasts longer than anger at the truth. These are the inferences of one who has lived and weathered life, age and regret. Greg Evans’ many years show here.
Mom used Luann and Zits to encourage my reading from a very early age. I’ve grown up reading these comics every single day. They feel like a part of the family. I know its not a significant moment, but at the time I was turning 30 and it really hit home.Luann: Mom, when you were 20 what did you want to be?Mom: 30Luann: Wha’d you wanna be when you were 30?Mom: 20Luann: So, what do you want to be now?Mom: 30 on the inside, 20 on the outside.Thank you for all the great years!!

I taught art for many years and this is just so accurate. I don’t know how many times over the years I heard, “I can’t think of anything to draw”.
I kept it tacked to the wall of my classroom until I left last year.
