    >>> VANCE RANDOLPH <<<

    … used to lecture on folklore at the UofA when I was in school there in 70s. I vaguely remember him as more of a “Eureka Springs” kind of guy rather than a “Fayetteville” kind of guy .

    FWIW: I was born and raised in the foothills of the Ozarks, have recreated there all my life, and have NEVER heard anyone use the phrase “with squirrel” until just now.

    Who says you don’t live and learn?

    I couldn’t wait for Saturday to denigrate Arkansas, so here’s my Saturday contribution today:.An Arkansas man, who allegedly hatched an elaborate plan to murder a former employee, is behind bars after he reportedly butt-dialed the victim and revealed the plot. In all fairness, it’s not just people from Arkansas who butt-dial themselves into trouble. More here.

    I may never look at a squirrel in quite the same way again (and I’ve been looking at squirrels for a good many decades, since I helped Poppy [maternal grandfather] feed them peanuts while sitting under the monument to Gen. John A. Logan back in to old hometown). P.S. Good link, Rotifer; Vance, or whatever name he may have been using, was an interesting character….

    I found a site that claims to have a collection of banned cartoons from mainstream broadcast media. The animated clips run from 2-10 minutes. Most appear to be from the 1940s. Some are propaganda cartoons or claim to have offensive content (whatever that means). I’ve been unsuccessful in getting any of the videos to play. I hit WATCH, but I keep getting a message that says: VIDEO COULD NOT BE PLAYED AT THIS TIME. Is anyone else able to play them? Just curious. Are they even worth watching? website.Thanks.
