Bats are a wonder to watch. We have a large pond, and our property is always damp. In the evening the bats come out, swooping and diving, skimming a millimeter above the water, grabbing insects as they go. We have surprisingly few mosquitoes.
We have a pair of barn swallows nesting on our porch, and while they do maneuver like jet fighters, they leave as much waste as a coal powered locamotive with its ash and cinders.

I love swallows, they are very curious, and sometimes fly circles around me as if to figure out what I am.

Barn swallows waste - ?? - do you mean residue from flight damage or poo???

Barn Swallows are fun – they do the day job and the Bats do the night shift. Still can’t talk the parents into putting up bat boxes.

Male mosquitoes don’t bite, only the females. And, you can only hear the buzzing of the female; the male’s sound is out of the human audible range.

I was about to show this one to my wife, since we have swallows who hang out here, but then I figured she’d equate me with the male mosquito.
