Ever since the Allanis Morriset dust up, I don’t know what is ironic any more. It turns out I don’t really know the meaning of the word anymore……..So I’ll just call this funny…
So refreshing to have a comic strip just be funny without resorting to political baiting — especially after yesterday’s strip. I was wondering if Wiley could actually do it.
Funny you mentioned politics. When I looked at the first image I admit I thought the red thing under the tree was a confederate battle flag. It wasn’t, but still kind of looks like it could be. ….Just saying’.
There is nothing more wildly celebrated by an ignorant and fawning electorate than a great idea, poorly enacted.Any failure is attributed to sinister opposition by vast conspiracies.
BlueJayRobin, I just got it! Good one….LV, That would be a sublime ending. Wiley probably slappedhis forehead after he read that…..mwauelius, I Hear you. Don’t get me going…Even in middle schools, they require students to decide if he was good president or not….Because of the Trail of Tears, most students today view him as a bad president….I think of him as the first redneck teapublican…He betrayed his Indian friends that helped him fight the war. He was a rat.
I didn’t read yesterday’s comments until today (my doctor refuses to allow me to have more than one ulcer at a time…..) I suddenly could picture to myself a cartoon with two people on two tiny islets, with a boat apiece and a tree apiece, simultaneously cutting down their own trees and clobbering the other’s boat…..
josh and frugalnotcheap, Mad Magazine was one of the greatest magazines ever. Not just because it was funny as all get out, it taught at least a couple generations to look at the world skeptically, and to laugh at the absurdities of life.
The movie parodies were priceless….it was really quite intellectual, just silly….I’m sure that half the commentators here became the wise guys they are after reading it. The world didn’t look quite the same after reading Mad…As an educator, I could see it as a fun learning tool…Say you’re reading and discussing Shakespeare…….Say Romeo and Juliet…..Surely Mad did their own parody of it….Any creative reading teacher could take something like that and run with it
Can’t really tell in the panels that the land mass on the right is also an island. So, the fallen tree is a bridge to civilization! Who needs the boat?!
Is that because Republicans are the Porcelain Throne of the anointed? Those who are not Virtuous must be Vitreous? The best defense is a strong offense? If it represents the racist past it must be removed from the capitol?I’m always confused as to which absolute is to be used with each course.I know that consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds, which means to use a spoon, but which spoon is appropriate?

I’m not going to ask why the only thing he has on a deserted island is an axe.

Not sure getting into such a small boat and pushing it into shark-filled waters would be much safer than just swimming.

The Professor would have had that boat fixed in a jiffy using palm leaves and the life preserver.

That’s a boat? Thanks for the info. Knowing that makes it understandable, but it still doesn’t make it funny.
