You’re always up to no good, Andy. Everyone can smell it a little over a kilometer and a half away.

Jack is describing you with high-class language and not with street talk……… which would not be very flattering… so kiss the bar and thank him for letting you in……….

I sometimes wonder why we only celebrate July 4th..I know that’s the day we declared our independence, but what about the day we actually achieved it?.And far more important, in my opinion, is the day our Constitution was fully ratified… June 21, 1788.

This is how Independence Day was celebrated in the 19th Century. Nowadays it’s just fireworks and cookouts, and the occasional band concert, and I could do without the fireworks.Mark Twain’s Fourth of July Speechin Keokuk, IowaJuly 3, 1886http://www.twainquotes.com/July4-1886.html

Happy Birthday to us. Hi Starman. I hope that you’re recovering well. Bev, Affie Don’t let the trolls bring you down. I started reading Capp because I remembered how funny it was when I was a kid(I still have a few yellowed paperbacks) I stayed because I appreciate your comments and posts. I know I don’t often post but I feel that I know you all.

@Number ThreeThanks for posting my “All That Jazz” request yesterday! It’s my favorite song from one of my favorite musicals. “Just a noisy hall, where there’s a nightly brawl” sounds exactly like Andy’s kind of place!

July 4th is the date when Lewis Carroll first orally told the story of “Alice’s Adventures Underground” to the original Alice and her two sisters on the famous boating trip. Alice pestered him to write it down for her (apparently his other stories told on other boating trips weren’t nearly so memorable!) And later it became the greatest children’s book ever written. So, for our British friends, we see that the 4th of July is a matter of win some, lose some, lol.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there. See you tomorrow. I’ll try to stay reasonably sober.

Hi there, Cappers. Sorry if I’m interrupting the 4th of July celebrations but I just wanted to let you all know that I have kind of been ‘moved up’ at my Work Placement. I’ve gone from being a Learner to a Volunteer Receptionist. I got an email on Friday about it and I had apparently made a good impression on the regional operations manager who I’ve met a couple of times and I think he’s awesome.

That’s all. I’ll let you get back to your celebrating.

Do you know, my Father would have been 102 today! He died on Sept. 11, 2009, in excellent health, his mind was sharp as a tack, and his body too, for the most part, though his movements slowed down somewhat, still living in his home my mom and him had built in 1966, until he fell in his breezeway and hit his head. We wanted him to come stay with us after Mom died in 2005, ironically September 21, he said “No I am staying here, this isn’t a home anymore, but it is still my house”! We only lived 2 miles away, which was good.

My first thoughts of September 11 are my Dad, the tragedy comes second.

Sorry, don’t mean to drag you down, but I just had to post this.
