Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for May 26, 2010
Transcript:
Saleswoman: Instead of trying to be all things to all people, this year's swimwear is designed for the individual! Cathy: REALLY?? Assistant: TA DA! Cathy: That would only look good on a 5' 7", 112-pound, 23-year-old with a perfect rear and barbie doll legs! Assistant: YES! THAT'S the individual! THAT'S the one they're all made for this year!! Saleswoman: If nothing fits the rest of us, it's not our fault! Assistant: At last! A return to innocence in swimwear!

Looks like Cathy isn’t hitting the beach this summer.

Those sales ladies aren’t going to be selling much of anything this season…

Cathy could go to a store that sells “plus-size” clothing…they sell swimsuits for larger women…

You’re right Tanya. There isn’t much there to sell. Not that that’s a bad thing.

@Francis - Cathy should be hitting something this summer though… whether it’s the gym or the swim suit designers, I’m not sure.

What I don’t get is why she has to buy a new swimsuit every year. Don’t people wear their suits more than one year? I’ve had my suit for four years and it’s still in good shape.

@terrabeth7776, it seems to be considered mandatory in fashion circles to buy a complete new outfit every year. Not that I agree, but someone like Cathy would certainly be influenced.

I think the reason Cathy looks for a new swimsuit each year is because she’s searching for that elusive “perfect” swimsuit that will make her look like a 5’7”, 112 lb., 23 year old.

I can really relate to this one. I’m 5’2”, and it seems every pair of jeans on the planet are designed for someone 5’7’ or taller. :)

When I find a suit that looks good on me, I wear it until it falls apart. Unless you go swimming every day, who needs more than one?
