The last few times I’ve been at the fabric mega-mart, there were as many young men in there, as there were young women. Maybe they’ll grow up to be fabulous designers.
It seems to me, that if the husband is required to go to the fabric store and look at stretchy knits, the wife should be required to go to the hardware store and look at tools.
I have figured out the perfect excuse not to go shopping with my wife. She is an inveterate haggler and always has an eye for a bargain. I tell her that, if I go along, the sellers see me and automatically think rich gringo ( how wrong they are ! ) and the price goes up. My wife is convinced that this is the case, so I get let off the shopping hook ( most of the time ).
Okay, here’s the deal—fabrics on the bolt really do give off an odor due to the finish used after printing. I rarely see men shoppers in Joanne’s, but I have noticed that many of the stores have male sales associates. Guess any job is better than no job!
I get my husband into craft stores so he can wander around and goggle at the weird junk they sell as “seasonal decor”. And we love Halloween. I mean you just can’t beat an eyeball stuck in the middle of a frilly pink ribbon with spangles., which was yesterday’s find at Michaels.
I am not a “go to the store” shopper – I am a buyer. However, I do my research ahead of time so I can go in, get what I want and get OUT. I prefer “shopping” from the comfort of my chair and computer.

Fabric is fine, it is when my wife browses the pattern catalogs I need to get coffee. The last ice age was shorter…

I have always maintained that there is a chemical outgassed from new fabric that puts males to sleep. More precisely it puts husbands to sleep.

I am not much of a Kohl’s shopper, but I have to admit that my wife is a good sport at Home Depot or Lowes. But she will not shop at MicroCenter.
