One of the first uses of Functional MRI was funded by Pepsi to figure what the difference is in the brains between Coke drinkers and Pepsi drinkers.

As usual, the artwork intrigues me…The office scenes are almost identical.., both have everybody in the same place….But they are two different drawings,,,,Hey, man, Wiley could have just used the same drawing and adjusted it as necessary……OK, that’s not true… Wiley could never do that….He has too much skill and integrity to do that….Think of it as a gift to his fans..We get two Wiley drawings instead of one………..just the same, but different….

Riding the bus to school I always felt like a lamb going to slaughter. When looking back on the childhood saying, “We’re all in our places with bright shining faces:”, we were just being programmed for life. Smile everyone!!!

Never trust a collective. They are all evil. They exist to exist and will lie, cheat and steal to maintain their power and primacy, over your dead body if need be.

I was a psych. major as an undergrad., and worked for 3 years remediating rats that the freshmen in intro-psych couldn’t train in the Skinner boxes. (It was questionable who needed remediation.)

When my employer was purchased by another company, I received innumerable requests for statistics. This is when I learned how easy it is to manipulate the same set of figures to obtain different results, depending on the preferred outcome.

I have been retired for 15 years. No holiday pay, no vacation, no sick leave, no time off for good behavior…..oh, wait, that one doesn’t belong on THIS list, can’t call in sick, no free post it notes, no free paperclips, no free pens, sheesh retirement really……IS GREAT.When I retired I called my ex-boss every morning at 7 am to tell him I wouldn’t be in that day. Until he changed his phone number. I retired January 2nd, first day after Xmas and New Year shut down. When I got back to my desk, my pager had dozens of pages from our manager. I refused to carry my pager home, as I was hourly and not salaried. I looked at it and said to self, wonder what that $()8 wants. I gazed off into space and said to self, I will never know. I dumped my desk and file cabinet drawers into the dumpster and walked out.Retirees can return to the company on certain occasions.I am on the company’s not allowed on the property list. This manager looked exactly like the pointy haired boss in Dilbert. Even to the hair.

Has Wiley been talking with Mr. Hinds? The N.F.L keeps insisting that all of the outside brain specialists who’ve been studying CTE are full of it as only those hired by the NFL really have all of the facts.

Just know every survey you take is not to make the corporations give you what you really want, as it is for them to learn how to make you want what they want to sell. I’m one of those annoying people that when I see something heavily advertised, I can’t help but wonder what is wrong with what they are trying to sell.

Often worse, are the surveys politicians send out with loaded questions that the answers can be skewed into the exact opposite of how you thought you were answering. Or as in some, both answers are actually the same, though how they are worded if you are not paying attention you may not notice.

And finally, the billions corporations will pay in research to con people into doing more work for less pay. Some are simple tricks like manipulating the lighting in your work place to vary in brightness during your work day. Some are more devious in the form of the lateral promotion, new title, more duties, same pay. But, oh, boy, you’ve got a fancy sounding title on your name plate. Too bad that doesn’t seem to work on CEO’s, who ironically have less duties as the vast majority of their ‘work’ is delegated to others, but yet they get a whole lot more pay. Think of the raises Everyone doing actual productive work could enjoy.

As for this cartoon, I believe the guy in the maze represents the guy who is too good at his job to ever get a promotion.

Did 30 years, mostly outdoors with some office time in a real office, they went to cubicles and I a had to retire in under a year, stressed out. Like Old Texan, 15 years ago. (continued to volunteer for only field work though for another 5 years)

Human history would indicate that all humans are religiously foolish as a matter of course. Each has their idée fixe, and pursues their chosen course of folly with single-minded determination, only noticing that others are lost in a fog of pre-occupation, while the small space around them remains entirely clear.

No one will ever see this, since I’m commenting days late, but did nobody comment on the Twilight Zone vibe? The mice panel could totally have been the ending scene of a Zone episode!
