Charlie's World
Charlie: I've got this. Lola! Stop!! ! Noooooo. ?
Mom: What do you think Lola is dreaming about, Charles?
Charles: Shh! I'll tell you when she wakes up, but I want to see how it turns out first!
To be seriously continued...

Color layers smaller than the black. Interesting effect, but I would rather see it correct.

Let’s everybody grab a corner of the color layer, and maybe we can stretch it out!
Sat,,, anybody more savvy than me know why they post CMYK layers on a web site, anyway? We’re looking at CMYK via RGB.
Arianne about 9 years ago
You could kind of look at it (the color snafu) as Lola dreaming in black and white, and Charlie getting delayed, vague impressions of the dream in color, but then that doesn’t work for the last panel.
jreckard about 9 years ago
Since when do dreams line up with reality? let alone colors within the dreams?
pcolli about 9 years ago
I see nothing wrong with the colouring. Dreams are like that and wells are dark.
Aaberon about 9 years ago
The artwork is exceptional today! It looks like a dream sequence.

What’s that Lola? Charlie followed you into the well? Where is he, girl? Where is he?Thanks, Mr. Miller.

What I find ironic about the coloring is that I believe Wiley has developed a process/program to have comics displayed correctly in different sized formats to accommodate the size shown by different newspapers

Tomorrow they’ll fix the color and post the corrected strip. Then on Tuesday, somebody will come along and wonder what all these comments are about.

Lola reminds me of my “lap” dog.

For those seeing the color disparity as correct, I like the way you think! However, I checked and it’s a normal strip in my local paper so this is indeed a mistake.
Lio needs to have the comic repair folks head over here after they repair his frame.

It is strange that I had to check the one in the newspaper to see what the coloring is supposed to be..Usually I like to see it here so I can enlarge it to appreciate the artwork..I hope they do correct it here.

Well, that seals it. Never want to dream like that. Sometimes having a pet can be a problem; especially when her dream jumps into mine. Yep, it really does happen.
Wiley has gotta be psychic. Just what do he know??

Acid trip, anyone?

interestingly enough, on the WaPo website, the same color snafu happened.

I thought it was just another crappy attempt at being artsy-crafty.

Maybe this is correct and the newspaper is wrong!

I would like a print of this version to hang on my wall.

if one looks carefully at the last panel you can see where the colors should have been; with the red square around the “to be continued” box
Old Texan75 about 9 years ago
I don’t see anything wrong with the coloring as it is a dream sequence, yeah I can see how the last panel doesn’t line up.But you shoulda been in the dream I had last night, this one is kinda tame.

Does Lola’s champagne taste like coca cole ? What Lola wants Lola gets !

Not just misaligned – they’re the wrong size relative to the black as well.
Thehag about 9 years ago
I like it this way and thought it was on purpose for the dream. Disappointed that it isn’t.Love Lola in the last panel!

Whoever prepped the files for electronic distribution made a mistake.
Kinda cool, though.

yes, the color layer(s) are not at the same scale as the inked outlines. rather confusing.

Dog dreams! Current job doesn’t allow time to be owned by a dog, barely have time for the giant ponies sometimes. Year ago though, I had a GSD and he left the mark while running in his dreams on an old chest of drawers I had. I gave it to my niece, who of course cleaned it up and painted over the marks. Which is OK, they didn’t mean the same to her as they did to me.
Not sure about the color issue, whether it’s on purpose or not,???
It seems interesting to me that some people dream in black and white and others in full color and some in muted colors. I dream in full color. Just wish I could remember the dream I had Wednesday morning, because I woke up thinking it was Saturday. Imagine my disappointment when I realized it was not Saturday and here it is already Sunday afternoon.GiantShetlandPony about 9 years ago
Should have read years ago…

Awwwww: somebody fixed the color. It was pretty cool the way it was first thing this morning.

RanaRavens….Thanks you.Guess I didn’t ask my question very well…. I’m not an expert at this stuff, so I don’t know how to say what I mean.
But you see, the comics DO get printed, every day.the syndicate sends them way ahead of time to newspapers as CMYK files..cyan, magenta, yellow and black (or key) layers already separated for the presses….which run the whole comics page through 4 times, laying down the yellow, then blue (cyan) then red (magenta), and finally the key layer, which has the outlines and text.
But online comics don’t need layers…the full-color strip can be uploaded as one file…the RGB color process interprets each pixel as needing a certain amount of red, blue, or green light shining through.
So I can’t figure out why we would ever see mismatched layers… when I would think we’re not looking at the separated layers for printing, but one image, just as Wiley colored it…This isn’t the first time, either…I’ve seen it other days on on other strips.I’m just curious.Anybody?Thanks.

Am I the only one who noticed that Charley seems to be Reading Lola’s Mind while she’s dreaming?.He wants to see how her dream Turns Out….
