It’s getting longer! We’ll have to watch it for a long time to see what that means.

“the scam also works for the chiropractor..”   Don’t forget the homeopathic ‘doctor’ (though we’d like to).

Of course it’s not free. Progressive taxes will pay for it. The United States had its greatest period of economic growth when the top tax rate was 90%..“I like to pay taxes. With them, I buy civilization.”—Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

Nancy Reagan had her own astrologer, and once had Reagan reschedule signing an arms treaty because of her astrologer’s advice.Of course, the astrologer was just testing to see how much influence she had over Nancy.Scary, ain’t it?

So someone has your hand in your money. Can’t blame it on anyone else when you suddenly realize being a sucker. Just can’t palm that off.

In one of the Scandanavian countries, it is a source of pride to pay more taxes than someone else.It seems as high taxes and interest rates do create a greater period of prosperity. Reference the huge building boom of the Mississippi Valley during the 1870s and 1880s, most of it on borrowed money. Want to guess at the interest rates? Fifty percent, fifty percent! With real dollars. Gold dollars. I wonder what percentage that interest rate would calculate in real value with todays dollar.

I wish thus forum had an ‘Edit’ button. Some of the other forums do. It’s so frustrating to try to correct a type or some other booboo, and not even be able to delete it, let alone correct it.

Farm Subsidies: I once got a check from the Government for $1.25. It turned out to be a miscalculation on their part on a per diem check they owed me. But it came without explanation.

Given my postage-stamp sized yard, I figured they were paying me not to grow wheat. I should have told them I wasn’t growing corn. You get more money for not growing corn.

NightGaunt, got a chuckle out of that one….Bruno, I was gong to make a similar joke about the politics thing…..But I was afraid Wiley would take it as a criticism…..He takes enough shit as it is………Senex, nice comeback……..However, on the farm thing, industrial farms really don’t need the subsidy……But, smaller family owned farms need all the help they can get….Just ask Willy…BTW, I heard he’s gonna stop Playing on the Road Again….He got hit by a truck…..

Trump could ruin the two party system. he is a no holds barred candidate. He is saying things in public that many in the republican party secretly agree with, but would never admit too; like the immigration/ illegal alien issue, Feminism and other untouchables. He says it and he’s getting public support… why? because he doesn’t owe anyone a thing… he is self financing his campaign and the Repubs can’t do or say much to disagree with him. The GOP needs the Hispanic vote to win the election and Old Donald is offending everyone by his stance. The GOP needs the womens’ vote too and Donald is messing that up too. -So the Repubs have to try to own up to and ease the rhetoric or deny him and disown him. In which case Donald ‘trumps’ them by going independent which never works out well. He’s a billionaire he can afford a few hundred million to run his campaign his way… I doubt if he’ll win. but he may end up killing the Republican party and badly wounding the dems with his criticisms of the ‘H’ Clinton and her shenanigans… Should fun to watch the political implosions. Just stand back and see what happens when the dust settles.-By the way isn’t the money spent on political campaigns tax deductible?
