Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Although weâve been surprised MANY times before, that shadowed figure sure LOOKS like Flattop! If so, in one way it should satisfy many who have asked to see him again, but then again, it wonât be the same crook!
This is Too Much!! Flat-Top, The Chalice, Big DickâŚToo CoolâŚbut does he smoke?? I vaguely remember Bud Jenkins and how he was blackmailing Flattop and fell thru the ice with his new ice skates and then??memory fadesâŚ.help me out hereâŚwhatâs going on?
Nice alternate reality! Wonder how Chester Gould might have reacted had he seen it? Come to think of it, Flattop- Bud Jenkins pair is like Dick Tracy- Junior. And what about Junior equivalent in this timeline? It doesnât bear thinking! But maybe thereâs no Junior there. Oww, my head!
There was a âJustice Leagueâ animated story where they visit a parallel earth which had been destroyed, but recreated as a mutant youthâs fantasy, and as a result he got to pal around with the recreated heroes as their sidekick.
The tale is a bit more complicated than that, but the past few days really remind me of it.
The Brow, it turns out here in the Midnite Mirror, is Alfred Boche, valet to The Chalice, who in partial rear-profile appears to be Flattop. In this fantastical wonderland Flattop is some sort of ally to the police in crimefighting, and the presence of a valet named Alfred certainly does call to mind Batman. Could âThe Chaliceâ be Flatttopâs crimefighter soubriquet?
Budâs presence here in the storyline reminds me of Boston Blackieâs buddy/sidekick âThe Runtâ in the Chester Moris Colpix films of the 1940âs.
âGood morning to you Countdown boy !â"Gweed, if that happened to be in reference to my âcount UPâ comment to Vista Bill, I certainly meant it iwith the greatest respect to him: As in:âOnward and ever Upwardâ!
Yesterday, Ron-Ar said âMaybe itâs Alfred, and the guy in silhouette is Bruce Wayne.â I didnât know what Ron-Ar was referring to; there was no silhouette character yesterday. Now this pops up today. Who is this Ron-Ar, and does he have an inside look at things?
The setup of these characters certainly seems to resemble Batman, with âThe Chaliceâ being Batman, the kid being Robin, and of course the Brow being Alfred. That would make âThe Chaliceâ (undoubtedly Flattop) some sort of crimefighter. In this case the equivalent of Commissioner Gordon is Chief Boche, who calls on Batman to help him rid the city of crime.
giggles</> I never heard of Bambi3, until you posted that link. Brilliant! Reminds me of âDeer Avengerâ A boyfriend of mine, at the time had all of them and we played them for hours.
âALFRED, WILL YOU BRING AROUND THE BATMOBILE?â_
For a second or two there, given the opulence, name and phrasing, one might easily have thought the shadowy figure emerging was one *Bruce Wayne -
until, we remembered that it was supposed to be the Chalice aka Flattop !As young Dick Grayson reminded us of the reality in his greeting !
Yet, colleague seanyj (earlier this morning) - certainly seemed to get similar Batman vibes from the same encounter,Alfred, even seemed to be reaching for the âMastersâ Costume in panel 3(Did I just slip there and say - âREALITYâ ??)
And then like others here, not âcarried awayâ with faux nostalgia, we recall that this sequence has no basis in fact . . .Waiting to âfind outâ if itâs a Play (?) A Movie (?) A Diet Smith Blurred Image project or a (shot & âdreamingâ) B-B Eyes Nightmare ?
Just like readers WAITING (now 2 weeks), to beâ TOLD *-Given a reason for this (stretched?) harum-scarum sequence, featuring long DEAD characters . . . ?
Until the âmore thoughtful. among us ârecallâ itâs been now the âFirst Timeâ in the Wrap Up of a âhigh shootingâ Dick Tracy tale where characters - fell like flies, as others simply âvanishedâ(?) - there still remains, No Accounting of who âLivedâ and who âDiedâ ?
Ranking alongside those âmysteriousâ Blood Flows (from ICE) in Antarctica (do a SearchâŚ)
And one realizes TODAY (it was not so in the past) - a Tip of the Hat to Sammy Kaye . . . ?Everything is âcraftedâ to SWING the MYSTERYway !
Much youâre simply not told . . . And NOW with a âSense of Urgencyâ(?) most everything new is CRAFTED into a âMYSTERYâ !
WHY ?An Itchy Oliver in the current sequence, might well ask âŚâWhat ever happened to - âOpen and Shutâ ?
It would be good if the new, upcoming Villain could be a pointer ⌠âappropriatelyâ called -âThe CANARYâ
This reminds me of the British gentlemen sleuths like Lord Peter Wimsey and Albert Campion, who had valet/chauffeurs (Bunter and Lugg, respectively), and would be called in, unofficially of course, to help Scotland Yard.
Night-Gaunt49 indicated,We wait for that crowning day of glory.-ââââââââââââââââââââ-.For me, anticipation is much of the fun.
I donât think this story should count in Tracy continuity because it clearly is an imaginary/fantasy story. Maybe even someoneâs dream or hallucination as some have suggested. It is moving quite slow compared to the previous story which skipped so many details that we still donât know some of what happened. I hope this doesnât drag on too long. Anxious to get back to see what happened to Mysta and everyone else.
