Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for October 09, 2015
Transcript:
Alice: Why am I having so much trouble deciding what to be for Halloween? All I need is a costume that expresses who I am and shakes loose some candy. Alice: Adults are a sentimental lot, easily swayed by anything cute. What would appeal to their weakness for the adorable? Alice: OF COURSE! The answer's been right in front of me all this time, because I left it lying on the floor! Alice: I'll be a PANGOLIN!

I’m sure Madeline can cobble together a pangolin-costume in a jiffy (though a few people might mistake Alice, in costume, for a mini-Godzilla)!

Nice take on Bruce Wayne’s “ah ha!” moment when he’s inspired to be a Bat-man.

A reference, I believe, to the early Batman comic where Bruce Wayne chooses his identity as a crime fighter.

A bear costume would be easier (Mom could probably just buy one pre-made) and Alice could slap toy fish at people who didn’t give her enough candy. But of course fish slapping bears are so last month.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Nice nod to Bob Kane! For fans who are interested, October 24th will mark the 100th anniversary of his birth.

A bad pangolin costume makes you look like an armadillo.

The blog entries were written around the same time as the original strips were published (5 years ago, sometimes multiple strips per entry) and generally have Cul de Sac in the title. There are (far?) fewer entries than strips.

The candy should go to any adult who correctly guesses what she’s supposed to be!
