HAR! And how.

Either a dream or you’ve got a guy with a boat!

Debate all you want. The polar bear will win.

You are behind times: they have predicted a global cooling (again! The first time was in the 1970ies and that cooling hasn’t happened yet)

It’s the bear and the shark that are dreaming…..about dinner, that is……..

The scary thing is, those two guys are sitting on Greenland.

Polar Bear: “Ice Bear lost. Could you tell how to get back to San Francisco?”

Q: How many climate change deniers does it take to change a light bulb?

A: “There’s nothing wrong with that light bulb.”

Things seem turvy-topsy or something no like that. Even the palm tree isn’t. But the kayak looks real. Possibly a tsunami from the Aleutians from an earth quake or volcano in Alaska?

Here’s the thing I don’t get: Generally speaking, ultra conservatives are terrified of just about everything…they live in fear of terrorists, Muslims, the government, black people, illegal immigrants, intruders, and people who want to take their guns away. Yet they don’t believe mankind is responsible for global warming. WTF?

I live in Florida.Governor Voldemort has forbidden us from using the words “Climate Change”..

The problem with climate change, global warming, whatever tag you prefer, is that it’s a complicated issue. Which is why those that don’t get it, refuse to learn about it, because it makes their heads hurt thinking that hard.

OK, sorry that was a bit mean, but this is the same thought process that cause things like what just happened in France to happen, and the dumb rationalization that will allow terrorism in all forms to continue.

Back to climate change:The answers aren’t easy, as we can’t all afford a Tesla, but we all have to get to work. Even if we could, then electric demands would have a hard time keeping up without using more methods then just solar and wind at this time. Sadly, in the states, if we had started a gradual change, as may have happened if President Carter had won a second term as president (he had solar panels on the White House, in the 1970’s!) just imagine where we might be now. The first thing President Reagan did was remove them, because they sent the ‘wrong’ message. Sigh, the foolishness when the agendas of the few outweigh the needs of the many.

Peter Gwynne’s article in 1975 was based on reports by scientists at the time – in a lot of science journals, and in interviews with a lot of those scientists. He now rues the day he wrote that article, convinced that over the past 40 years we’ve learned more about climate science (certainly true). Science had better be changing every day, or it’s not real science. That change is as we learn more. What we thought at one point changes as we learn more about what’s involved. [No, I’m not implying that what we think today is correct, either – just closer to the complete facts.But to imply that the article wasn’t based on the science of the day; to imply that scientists didn’t make global cooling claims back then, makes it sound like you are, unlike Baslim, only listening to sound bites instead of collecting good solid evidence yourself. Baslim was interested in collecting valid facts, instead of believing whatever somebody in authority said. If you had done some actual checking you’d know that many scientists did write articles, convinced that global cooling was occurring, maybe even inevitable. Just because it was scientists saying that doesn’t mean they were right. But to make a snarky comment implying that if the article was in Newsweek in 1975, there must’ve been no such scientific viewpoint, is sad, and not deserving of Heinlein’s name: Baslim was better than that. Feel free to argue on one side of the current climate change argument or the other – he fought for that kind of freedom, but check out what the scientists on both sides are really saying so you CAN be more like Baslim the Cripple [aka, Col Richard Baslim of the X Corps]. (While you’re at it, completely unrelated to this discussion, have you read Kipling’s Kim? Heinlein said it was the inspiration for Citizen of the Galaxy & for Baslim.)
