When very young my Mom brought us to a nursing home to visit the elderly on Easter Sunday. We had a bit of a laugh when several patients said, “Merry Christmas!”
I would get a huge kick out of that, if people still carolled, to have a little kid there and I’d want to give her a treat for being adorable and funny :-). We did it once (carolling, not ToT in December), I was Michael’s age, best time ever!
Carollers at the door on a snowy night are one of those wonderful, nostalgic, images from my youth, that I fondly recall.
As teenagers, a group of us went carolling one Christmas time, and had a blast. We actually practiced for a week before we went out – which, if you knew us, was something of a minor Christmas miracle, in itself !
A bunch of folks from my church have put together an impromptu choir and are singing at the local nursing homes. They have such a good time doing that. I wish I could sing……
That sounds like a Calvin and HobbesHobbes: Tomorrow is Independence Day. The Declaration of Independence says that all men are created equal, and entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.Calvin: That’s nice. So when does FDR ride through town and give us our presents?
A group of my son’s classmates went out trick-or-treating a in October dressed as a group of Christmas Carolers, with scarves and Santa hats. Not very good singers, but everyone got a laugh, hearing those songs two months early, and the kids got their candy, too.

I like her style. It’s never too early for “Trick or Treat”!

No wonder the Easter Bunny had such a confused look on his face.

OMG! Why didn’t I think of trying that when I was young and caroling door-to-door?

A good old-fashioned wassail wasn’t all that different from trick-or-treating…
