1968, so-called Hong Kong flu ran though my family. No vaccines. Wife, kids and me.Wife and kids recovered quickly. I got the worst follow on infection. Lost weight etc. No fun. My dad told me the stories of the 1918 flu he caught. He claimed all his hair fell out. He was 22 years old at the time.
Had a woman recently come into my BIL’s shoe store. She came to the counter and TOOK OFF HER MASK TO SNEEZE and then put it back on to continue shopping! :-)
I don’t understand the concept of wearing it under the nose either. The virus loves damp noses. If they et the virus let them ask the Dr. HOW?? I wore my mask all the time!!
Not sticking up for Burl or anyone who wears their masks under the nose. I’m thinking that in a lot of cases, it’s because their glasses get fogged up.
Nose not covered, not wearing a mask. Both covid and flu are respiratory diseases. Think about it. It’s one reason why we expect a fairly light flu season – for those people wearing masks and keeping distances, etc – less exposure to flu virus.
Upon a second look, yeah, his nose is hanging out. And he appears to have a hole, so that must be for sneezing through. But it all comes off when he eats, and we know the table manners of this herd.

I guess the hole in the mask is to let him eat?

I think the demise of the buffet is one good thing to come of Covid 19. Slobs like Burl are a menace to all!

Notice that this cartoon was first published in 2010, but how relevant for today!

Knowing Burl, that spot in the center of his mask is the hole he made because he didn’t like the mask effect on his ease of breathing.
