You have to nip this in the bud NOW Elly, otherwise they grow up never hanging anything up. It’s a male thing. Don’t just nag though, they tune that out. Back it up with punishment.
Or in my case the coat closet is too stuffed and hard for my daughter to jam it in. Of course hooks would work, but we don’t have that just backs of kitchen chairs or the stair banister. :-)
It’s not a male thing. I’m a mature woman and I confess that I don’t always hang my coat up—I throw it on my work table, especially if I know I’ll be going out again soon. My sainted 84 year old mother made us make our beds and still makes hers every day—I don’t give tours of my bedroom.
In the U.S., Michael would have put on his snow clothes(or suit) rather than his Ski Doo suit. All snowmobiles are called “Ski Doos” in Canada regardless of brand name. But, Ski Doo is the most popular brand there and is manufactured in Canada.
That reminded me of Calvin and Hobbes.Calvin: MOM!! Where’s my jacket?!Mom: On the floor, right where you left it.Calvin: On the floor? Why didn’t you put it away?Calvin is holding a piece of paperCalvintalking to himself: Gee, my own copy of the Emancipation Proclamation.
When I was growing up, Mom kept the “coat fund”. If any of us left our coat or our shoes or our boots where they did not belong overnight, we had to pay up in the morning. This was 40 years ago, and we paid a nickel per item. I guess it would have to be a bit more dear to work today! But everyone in the household (except the dog) was subject to this rule. Mom and Dad included.
3 Fighting FishThey have their Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Not quite as pre-eminent as the Bill of Rights, but they don’t have a Supreme Court “legislating” it away either.

I’m the type that would leave it forever. When my bedroom floor disappears, I finally clean it for the next round.

“bring up a child in the way he should go…” It won’t get better: I’m 73 and my wife still has to tell me to hang up my coat.

Just give Michael a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation and explain its meaning.

I have an extra free standing, heavy duty coat rack by the door in the winter. Works great. Everyone really does use it without being told to.

My wife and I didn’t have kids, so I sometimes wonder if parents ever regret having the little darlings and wish you’d had a dog instead.

Oh, there were times when the only thing that kept me from killing mine was the electric chair, (:>))

Could be Bombardier suit.

With Michael as old is he is, I would’ve opened his bedroom door and thrown his jacket in there so he had to walk on it or hang it up.

Dogs leave their coat all over the house, one hair at a time!
