The much-anticipated (at least by me) of Bogart, another interesting character created by Curtis & Staton! Glad he wasn’t forgotten!

Bogart the Roach looks similar to Monk Mayfair. (IMHO)

And now the chase begins. Who is going to get to Specs and Spicy first?Looks like Bogart da Roach has a slight name change. I like one of the middle cards that was dealt to Bogart. 8D

Bogart has his origins in a handpuppet I picked up at Philcon in 1998…

Bogart looks like a man who would enjoy a Cuban cigar…when he’s not on the weed.

There goes our new Dick Tracy,- ’ticket’* already in his VestEnough ‘2nd hand’ info; for him to fly in and ‘see through’ - that Havana test …* perhaps to make arrests !The new source’s no slouch he carries clout and more “balloons” than even ‘ole man’ Pouch ?‘News’ (not clues) to justify departure coming fast from a man called - Bogart the Roach

With this new ‘septic tank’ on hand, why bother to ‘frisk’ them at that silly BankAll the info needed, in his ‘memory’ cells, there like a fully loaded TankJust put the Dollar$ on the line, the MCU will arrest them every time !We’ve arrived in a new ERA (Call it ‘Dime time’) ? Where the police no longer have to ‘investigate’ a Crime !

Take note that Tracy “has been doing some investigating” for those who didn’t think he was doing anything.

Bogart is a sly nod to Easy Rider also.

“Bogart the Roach”? Is this Dick Tracy or Police Squad?

Seems others noted a Jack Kirby style to “Bogart”.

Mike’s story telling style is (for my taste) very choppy and dis-jointed at times. But I went back and re-read this story from the moment Specs (who had no specs) stumbled onto the X-Ray goggles at Smith Industries. Here’s what I was able to piece together:Specs was in a study to help him with his migraines. He put on the X-Ray goggles, which had been mixed into the migraine goggles by an unknown person working for the Apparatus. His headaches were instantly cured, plus, by adjusting the dials on the goggles, he discovered the “see-Through” feature. So he absconded with them. The very next day, he and Spicy were seen to be established at Apparatus HQ, with no explanation as to how that came about. (Perhaps the spy at Diet’s facility told the Apparatus who was in the migraine study?)Meanwhile, Diet called in Tracy and Sam, and told them about the two concurrent studies, and that the glasses probably had been mixed. He specifically mentioned that a pair of the migraine glasses were also missing. (Who took them, and for what reason?)Also, Tracy was called in on the robbery at Thorndikes’ Mansion and then went off to the Detective Convention. He was called home because Sam and Lizz had found some leads, but we weren’t told what those leads were.<L<Now, he seems to know that the police should be looking for one man in connection with all the strange robberies. That’s nice, but how did he arrive at that conclusion? Did he figure out the common thread to these robberies (which would be cool, but I wish we could have seen it, since the point of a detective story is to follow your hero’s reasoning) or did his informant just tell him – and if so, how did his informant know?Stay tuned – perhaps answers will be forthcoming!

@Jonathan K.It’s a folded-up $100 bill. Who dealt Bogie a Benjamin? Does Tracy pay his informants?

I’m assuming he does. That’s ago good reason for have more than one informant: price competition.

And where does Bogart get his information? Cheech and Chong perhaps? Team Tracy, you’re still the best.

How long have Chief Patton and Diet Smith been sitting there, waiting for Tracy? And how much does Bogart the Roach actually know, aside from what he told the guy in the yellow trenchcoat? Why would a street informant think it “imperative” that the cops find Specs before the Apparatus: what dog has he in this fight?

Sounds like it started with The Fraternity of Man’s song, “Don’t Bogart that Joint My Friend” https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=don’t+bogart+that+joint+my+friend&view=detail&mid=0E2323BABC76DF22AECA0E2323BABC76DF22AECA&FORM=VIRE2

Tidying up. Being snowed in gave me an opportunity to get my external hard drive array organized. There are 16tb of external disk space attached to Comet in addition to 2tb of internal hard drives..

Including the original version of The Newsboy Legion (featured on the cover here) and the Boy Commandos.

I’m not honestly convinced that Jack Kirby actually “invigorated” the franchise. While the New Gods characters he created are among the major elements of the current DC Universe, at the time Jack’s DC books didn’t sell particularly well. The original runs of New Gods, Forever People, and Mister Miracle were all cancelled after 11 issues, and while his time on Jimmy Olson was longer it really didn’t have much of an impact on the character or the plots of the stories after Jack left the book. His later creations for DC were less successful artistically and in terms of sales.
