But can you begin to imagine the advancements in electric car design (and batteries) if the bright engineers of NASCAR were forced to turn their talents to building a fast electric car with a 500 mile range? In about ten years (or less) consumer electric cars would probably be much more practical due to the NASCAR developments and innovations.
Nye’s not even a trained scientist. He got a B.S. in mechanical engineering at Cornell, where he took one class in astronomy from Carl Sagan. He didn’t become “The Science Guy” until he started showing up on a Seattle TV sketch comedy show doing bits using that tag in the Eighties. Nye is a hobbyist with a very healthy dose of self-importance.

They may as well go electric. “Stock Car Racing” is so far from that very thing these days that they should rename it anything else but.

It’s not the 40 race cars, it’s the 50,000 fan’s vehicles that would be the problem. Jim Bob, y’all gotta get an eelektrik ride.

I remember the rebellion against Parnelli Jones in 1967. I might be a race fan had Jones prevailed against the traditionalists. Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And imagine how much pollution and greenhouse gases would have been eliminated if Bill Nye started walking cross country to all of his interviews.

I used to rebuild old gas engines. They always sounded fast with glasspacks and headers.
