Is that Jacob Jackrabbit sitting on that shelf in panel 2?Its interesting to see Wally standing in the doorway watching Kirbee and Chic. I wonder what he’s thinking.
Just HOW many people here had parents that grew up poor and wanted their kids to “have everything we never had?” How people here are saying the same thing to their kids? How is that working out?
The stuffed rabbit looks so innocent and harmless, such a glaring and stark contrast to the racist nightmare that Endtown must certainly be enduring.Wally, just go up to it and wring it’s fuzzy little neck to be sure it isn’t alive. As illusions go, this one is packed with so much symbolism Freud would have had a field day in deep analysis with Holly’s Psyche. It may be possible the none of this existed until Holly boldly and carelessly marched into the “Dittoe void”Our heroes are along for the ride in a construct of Holly’s memories. Though not quite as helpless as Hollly may seem. She is trapped in her deep past reliving those final moments before the world went to crap.
Ok Aaron, you’ve really done a great job developing the character of Kirbee! If she were a really person; I would seriously want to date her. She maybe a bit naive; but she definitely has her heart and mind in the right place. I hope you have something wonderful in store for her!
The resemblance of the toys to Endtown characters could be a clue to why people turn into what they do. I wonder what each person’s favorite stuffed toy was as a child and how closely they resemble it. Anthros changed while dreaming, and may have been drawn to the most comforting characters in their dreams, and drawn as them. Or if not comforting, what they were most fixated on symbolically.
The reason why the early ditto illusions didn’t have mass was that there weren’t that many of them creating the illusion. If you remember the ones in Hillside, they were only a thin shell and those illusions were fairly weak. I would imagine that if you had a ditto structure strong enough to support the weight of several people, the resulting structure would have some mass of its own.The interesting thing is that the dittos knew enough about the toy to simulate its weight and plushness. That may be the doing of the ship’s AI which might have that data. Something had to create all that edible food that Wally, Chic and Kirbee wolfed down. I hope Holly was fed before the show started.
Yeah, but remember that Wally had a lot more dittos after he left Unity. Enough that he could build solid constructs that could support his group’s weight. Its possible that that many dittos could have serious mass. We also have no idea how many dittos this ship has, it could have millions of trillions of dittos and be able to create constructs that have the same mass as actual objects.
Not sure if anyone is going to see this down here at the bottom of the thread, but the strip for Wednesday, 2/10, isn’t going to appear until Thursday. I’ve just had a massive PC failure that has wiped out my work on both Wednesday and Friday’s strips and it looks as though I’ll be spending a good deal of Wednesday getting the system repaired. Sorry about this, folks. I’ll keep you posted as things develop.
While things are paused, it’s a good time for readers to peruse older Endtown strips. Endtown archives go back to 2009, and it’s a really entertaining adventure for those who hadn’t stsrted there. For those that have followed since then, it’s also fun to go back and read with more insight into the characters. I always see them differently. And it’s free. Or…one could get the books.
Hi Aaron. Sorry bout your PC being a numf. Hope all goes well, and don’t worry, theres plenty of story arcs we can tide ourselves over with that you created so don’t rush it k?
Hey, Aaron! Hope the repairs go smoothly! Computer problems can be so darn stressful – even if one isn’t worried about posting a late comic strip. Good luck to ya, dude! :3
With everything that’s going on (everyone seeing what Holly went through – and that kissing moment earlier!), I can’t help but wonder where Present-day Holly is…Can she see what’s been going on?And how will she react when she’s reunited with everyone?

Don’t worry, in the future no one will have that problem.

So, does this mean Kirbee grew up spoiled?

I’m really starting to like Kirby. That worries me. Liking characters in Endtown can be hazardous… ;-)

Panel 4 statement is both profound – and true.
@dadof3 I agree. Kirbee is sweet and I hope is not expendable…

The life Chic never had….not sure if his lizard parents even cared about him in the slightest.

On a side note: Jake Jackrabbit is still ugly even as a plushie.

Is´nt it more – you don´t know what you have, til you lost it?

Kirbee – wise beyond her years. Curious to see where all this will lead.

But as the baby moves along in time, what will the baby want?

No comments on how dittos can replicate toys that Chic can physically hold? Weight and mass?

Well, they are on the Edmond (I always want to change it to Ella) Fitzgerald, they have enough room for that many dittos.
