I don’t think she meant like popped corn, I think she meant like it pops out of the pan as in like when you forget to cover regular corn in the microwave and you get a mess because it kind of explodes but not like pop corn just messy sticky stuff….Anyway, Opal, try some cream of tartar, or bar keepers friend on that pan :)
And if you forget to cut an x in chestnuts for the steam to escape, they will pop as well, all over the kitchen. After turning off the heat, I took shelter beside the refrigerator until it stopped. I’ll never forget to do that again!
Once set a pan of eggs on the stove to hard boil and forgot about them. Burned the pot dry, our smoke detector when off, but we were asleep and didn’t hear it, and the alarm company automatically call the fire department.
I am sitting here imagining the aroma of burnt pan and corn wafting through the house…ah… think I’ll open all the doors and windows and go visit the neighbors for a while.
Did you know that if you leave a gas stove on at very low heat under the Teflon coated pan filled with the grease you just generated by cooking bacon and go off to college classes for the afternoon, when you return you will have a gummy, sticky mess that can only be resolved by throwing out the pan? I learned that nearly 50 years ago. First person I knew to stick up a non-stick pan. I don’t know how Silverstone would react to the same scenario, and I hope I never learn.
