Never have figured out why cartoonists insist on looking east for a crescent moon and thinking itās early evening with the āhornsā of the moon pointing to the right. IT DONāT WORK THAT WAY.
I once saw a movie where they had a solar eclipse on the day after a full moon. I know itās just a movie (or cartoon for that matter). It still bugs me.
Well I learned something this morningā¦..I know itās a comic strip, but I never paid attention to the direction the points of a crescent moon faced. Thanks to those that āpointedā it outā¦Iām going back to bed now. Tomorrow I hope to learn something else.
Iām taking my best friend of 35 years backpacking in the high sierra this summer. I am comfortable in the wilderness off trail and without a tent in clear weather but this will be her first trip. Must come up with some good bear stories!
To all those commenting on whatās āwrongā with this strip, I wouldnāt want to be stuck at a party with you or on a long airplane ride. Sheeshā¦
Itās a well-known fact that cartoonists go into this line of work to avoid math (and science) for the rest of their lives, having stunk at it all through school. There are many of us who choose our career fields based on the same criteria and are thus able to just laugh at cartoons and move on without overanalyzing the details. It seems that Calvin also doesnāt have five fingers on each hand, poor kid. :D

At least theyāre in the spirit of the thing. That was, however, the wrong question to ask in the circumstances.

@leftwingpatriot,I suppose Calvin hired Hobbes to be a āhitā man, but I donāt think Hobbes has a ghost of a chance with a baseball bat.
