Our daughter used to take her raincoat off a block from our house and “lost” her umbrella promptly after I bought it for her. Seems these items were not “cool” Grrrrr
AAhhh, how well I remember the days of ‘yellow slickers’ with the helmet-like hat and the yellow boots. We had to have our names on the inside because everyone else had a set just like ours but we didn’t get wet. Just a bunch of lemon drops walking down the sidewalk ! ! ! ! !
Sort of like those kids who refuse to wear a navy watch cap in the dead of winter because it will mess up their hair. At least when they get admitted to the hospital for pneumonia they will show up with nice looking hair.
Oh, this is SO me! I went to a boarding school until I left the ninth grade, so had no idea about how to dress “normally” – had to make it up as I went along.
We went to visit the Statue of Liberty with some friends about fifteen years ago and their teen aged daughter would NOT zip up her coat. Hands rammed in pockets, shoulders hunched, and teeth chattering. “No, no. I’m fine.”

Don’t go complaining to Elly when you get home, Michael, with wet feet and have caught the sniffles.

Yep, once again we test the rain-repelling powers of testosterone.

I remember my son, age 10 or so, coming home from school in the middle of winter with his jacket wide open, no hat, no mittens. Definitely “cool”.

The dumbass kids around here really won’t wear a coat even when it’s below freezing.

We all have to learn our own lessons.
