We have a lifetime to learn 2 things………….. how to learn and what to learn………….. our filing system potential is essentially unlimited.How to sort and file applies to all aspects of the process. We don’t have the teachable moments, just the learnable moments. Others supply the teachable moments if we are in the lineup, It’s a “bootstrap” process. (Even if you wear heels).
The problem, as i see it, is not that so many people seem to be of below average intelligence. It’s that average intelligence is much lower than it was.
This reminded me of my military ROTC instructor in Junior & Senior years at U of Illinois in 1956/57 and 1957/58. He stated that even though we would be Reserve officers we would still be expected to teach and train enlisted troops.He stated that he believed one important principal. “If the student has failed to learn, then the instructor has failed to teach.”
