I can’t stand whole milk, I grew up on 1/2% and skim and non-homogenized that my grandparents got straight from the cow (though Granma often skimmed her own to make whipped cream) and cold, homogenized, full fat milk just tasted awful then and now (even 2% is too much for me…)
If our cow, Sweetheart, hadn’t had a calf in a while, when the milk and cream separated, there were only a couple of inches of milk at the bottom of the gallon glass jar. The rest was cream. You couldn’t drink t, so we made butter with it, lots and lots of butter..We gave most of the butter to our neighbors.
Got this stuff called “Super Skim”. I guess it’s milk. It’s white, pours from a carton, and spoils 3 days after you open it. It tastes something like latex paint.
Local farmer has raw milk he sells on an honor system from a fridge in a little shack in his front yard. Fresh eggs, butter, and yogurt too. Wife is now on a dairy-free diet…..but not me! Coffee Brandy and a little cream from the top of the milk bottle and I’m good to go! Life in the country is good!
Skim milk being healthier is a big scam. Raw milk is the healthiest way to go. It doesn’t have all the good stuff cooked out of it. Nor does it have to be refortified with fake ingredients. People have drunk raw milk for eons. Buy raw milk and support your local dairy.
It’s what you get used to, I suppose. We grew up on raw milk, as did our children. (My grandmother had a cow.) Even after I skimmed off enough cream to make butter, it was still richer than what the stores call whole milk. To me, 2% tastes watery and too sweet. Milk is made of fat and sugar, so if you take out the fat…
Bluish white water. As cindyorch said, Nasty! We’ve been drinking 2% for over 50 years, and recently I accidentally bought whole milk. We couldn’t tell the difference.
Skim milk varies. “Blue” is indeed yucky. But good skim is great. And yes, different. But once you get used to good skim, going back is hard to do. Find good skim milk and enjoy.

There are occasions I eat my cereal with almond milk or soy milk instead of dairy milk (the 1% or 2% kind)

I’ve been drinking skimmed milk for decades. Whole milk tastes like syrup to me.

Even my doctor said to use whole milk. When they remove fat, they add sugars.
