Based on how excited the guy in P2 is, he must have been following this story line from the beginning.

She’s a rugby player. She’ll say, “Oh, the heck with this,” and just throw the ball as hard as she can directly into number 7’s face.

Number 11 makes Menzie look like a petite flower.

Wouldn’t an aspiring State Champion Coach with 60 year experience have strong armed Menzie pass the ball down court to her best shooter rather than have her worst shooter throw up a prayer? Plenty of time for a catch and shoot.

I would love to see Menzie’s rugby instincts take over and watch her punt it in.

And finally, wouldn’t Menzie make a fine strong armed catcher for Boo once softball starts just before the Fourth of July?

You’re right JPuzz, because underhand free throws for the win.

I’m the one having a “desperation heave” about now.

Hopefully, as others have said, she will make/miss the shot, shatter the backboard and most importantly, FINALLY put an end to this most inane of story lines.

Worse yet, baseball will start next week and continue into August, denying us more Pedro/Mimi stories and (former) SCGT cruising Milford Country Club looking for any new “talent.”

@JPuzz: I second jimmymanners seconding. Tomorrow’s strip: P-1 repeat today’s P-3; P-2 Ball heading to net or hanging in air, P-3 ball bounces off rim Monday we find out Ms. Parkland Elbow’s hacked K. (someone (maybe me) will claim it was a literal “buzzer beater” and the second panel will show the first shot miss. The second shot drops and we go to OT, prolonging the games story line for another week. K sees Max sitting with the boy’s team, notices the attractive Mr. Brown sitting next to Max and as we all know “things happen”. Can I pre-order a Mimi T-Shirt to go with that coffee cup?

Hmmm. Maybe it’s just as well neither of the Thorps coaches more often.

What does Mimi mean by “strongest arm?” In terms of bench-pressing, yes, but that’s got nothing to do with how far or hard she can throw a ball. There are skinny pitchers who can throw 98 mph and guys built like Charles Atlas who couldn’t break a pane of glass.

Mimi, you can’t be serious. As has already been pointed out that is horrible strategy. You throw it to someone at or approaching midcourt. I’m sure there are other girls that can heave it half the court. you know, ones that can actually shoot. All this planning and drama can’t lead to her just missing and they lose. So either she makes it (which is stupid) or she gets fouled (which makes #7 really stupid). Then 2 of 3 underhanded free throws (she’ll miss the first for drama) for the win. Which also will be stupid. And speaking of stupid, you’d be stupid not to check out today’s Mopped Up Thorp.

Other observations:P1 – I thought Mimi’s game plan was to play 3 bigs (sorry Bitsy). So why is Shorty McRunt guarding #11 at this crucial point?P2 – Are they doing one of those rugby scrums, to make Menzie feel comfortable?P3 – Again, nice strategy Mimi. Besides it being dumb to have Menzie chuck it, you have her stand a whopping 8 feet from the end of the court, so she has to throw it 80 feet? I am disappointed that her rugby instincts didn’t take over and she didn’t do a drop kick.

Yes because rugby involves throwing the ball lond distances overhand… When I coached HS Girls BBall it was standard practice to have the team line up on the end line and see who could throw the ball the farthest. That person would be throwing the in bound pass, not receiving it. Mimi should be fired for this.

Second try: If you Kenzie’s stance, she should problably be called for backhanding the %^&# who elbowed her yesterday.Maybe K’s dad is a Dentist and she gets “kick back” (no pun intended) for jaw reconstruction referrals.

@tcar: I’m in my second year (39 +). The first year of retirement feels like a really long vacation. Nothing better for you than a good nights sleep every night, no deadlines, no vending machines, no rush hour traffic. Your old co-workers will always be amazed at how relaxed you look. Here’s a hint, don’t go to too many doings with the other retirees. They’re so old.

Actually with the price of copper it may have been more appropriate to say a ‘silver’ parachute!
