In ’53 I could play most anything I liked – by myself. We lived on a farm and the few kids around worked on that farm.

Charlie Brown was about 60 years too early for the movie “Cowboys and Aliens”

At this time, kids were devoted followers of Tom Corbett and Captain Video. though some liked Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, and the Lone Ranger.

Patty actually asked Charlie, ’what’s the matter’, is no one else surprised by that?

Back then most of the other kids liked Charlie Brown (more or less). But there are hints of his later loser status even in recent posts of the oldies. (“Recent posts of the oldies” doesn’t sound quite right, but I’m playing spaceman, not editor, today……)
