Note how Schroeder’s fist clenches harder and harder. Chuck might have got his block knocked off if there was a 4th shade of green. Hove the curtains at Casa Schroeder, hate a Sunday strip on Friday.
This joke must have been very different to read in its original B&W. Then, only the final panel would reveal the punchline with Schroeder’s face. Here, the final panel only tells us what we’ve already seen.

That should have been “three shades of RED.” Red is the color associated with anger. Green is associated with envy/jealousy.

Charlie Brown might learn to regret that joke when Schroeder turns into the Hulk and smashes the daylights out of him!
(Also, happy 247th birthday to Ludwig van Beethoven on Sunday)

Not only did Schroeder’s face turn green, his hair did too.

It’s lovely to come across a strip that I’ve never seen, despite having been enamored of Peanuts since the 50s.

Is that a Jon Arbuckle reference? oh wait, these came out before Garfield. But I stick to what I said
