Phoebe: I've had this phone almost a year. When I first got it, I had an awesome phone, and Dakota had an older, not-awesome phone. Now, MY phone is old, and Dakota has a NEW phone. Mom and Dad won't get me a new phone, because this one works as well as ever. So if I'd waited until now to ask for a phone, I'd have had to walk around for a year with NO phone. There's no perfect time. It's like you have to borrow from the future. I'm glad unicorns don't ever need upgrades. Marigold: We are as up as it is possible to be graded!

That’s just the thing with modernity. People will always be brainwashed into believing they need all the new stuff. I’ve had the same phone for almost a decade and it worked just fine… until my parents insisted on getting me a new, modern one for my birthday. Either way, I did save them tons of money by keeping the same phone for a long time. At least Phoebe is lucky. She has a unicorn. Not even Dakota can top that.

I got my first cell phone when my wife up graded to one of the first I-phones. Mine was a flip phone that was basically a small brick. She had it for five years, I had it for just short of ten. It was working fine but the infrastructure had been upgraded and service was getting very thin.
