Laughing Kitty, I live in Seattle, have two Siamese (Motley and Lucy/) and two Bullmastiffs (Sango and Spicy). My effort is to post about three pix or gifs or comments that follow up the theme of the comic that day. Not always possible but I try.
Yesterday, I went to my doctor and had a “come to Jesus” meeting with him. My left wrist and hand have become very painful. My left foot is very painful to walk on due to a diabetic ulcer that I had operated on to have a tumor removed leaving me with a 2cm wide but very shallow hole. I have been in pain for weeks and had called in asking for a prescription for a painkiller because ibuprofen wasn’t doing the job. I got Mobic for my pain. Mobic is slightly less powerful than ibuprofen (but probably safer to take). He asked what my pain number was. I said, “Using a scale of Get off my lawn, angry bear, wounded bear, or mama bear”? I said, “imagine someone twists your arm, then twists it again 15 minutes later, while you step on a board with a nail in it with broken glass” He gave me a scrip for hydrocodone. I am typing this with my right hand only. I used to typy 110 words oper minute error free years ago. Now for some cat pics:
Laughingkitty: I always go back and read the posts from the night before in case I missed something.
LROS mentioned the kitty mats she makes and sends to me. She made several Hello Kitty mats and those were really popular with little girls. They seemed to hone in on them right away.
I got to meet LROS last Nov on a trip up to the PNW. She and her husband are awesome! They took us on a tour around the Fruit Loop up there.
I’ve also met Jessegooddoggy, who lives up in N CA. She’s adopted 2 grey brothers from me. She and her “camping dog”, Fred, drove down my way to get the cats. This involved 2 trips
I met another woman ( and her family) who drove down to adopt a 3 legged cat from me. I met her family on that same trip to WA/OR and got to see Chiro in his new home.
Chesney, you don’t know how lucky you are to have Annie! Beviek – super cute stuff from you today. Love the kitty climbing through the door slot. Can’t keep that one out! Last Rose – I think you have captured all the feisty ten cats in your pictures. They better learn to work hard for the money if Annie leaves. bbear – I hurt just reading your post. How horrible for you. Hopefully the meds will give you some relief. Now I really appreciate the pictures you put up. They are all so funny today, as usual. Your pictures make me feel better.
Chesney, you are such a brat! Annie doesn’t seem too concerned, though.Great pics and posts today, gang. As always!P.S. If any of y’all aren’t reading Breaking Cat News yet, you really gotta.
Well, I don’t usually admit to my large number of cats to co-workers or others who ask, because I don’t want to hear "What? You have THAT many cats?! No, I do not live in the country, my cats all live in the house with access to a fenced back yard. But I insist they stay indoors at night and I keep them indoors in winter, except for an occasional peek at the new snow sometimes.
My oldest cat is Ralph. I saved him from my uncle’s farm. He was a few weeks old, not able to drink from a bowl yet. He was in the granary with his sister. Both were wet and cold and it was going to get below freezing that night. Their mom stopped caring for them. I knew they would freeze to death that night if I didn’t take them. I , didn’t ask – I just took them home, bundled them in a blanket and put them by the gas heater. I prayed a lot for them too. The sister was Trixie. She died last year.
Then there are the brothers I got from my sister. She lives in Illinois. I live in a small town in southern Wisconsin. The brothers are Ike, Dexter and Marlow. I also have a cat from my other sister. She had to go to a nursing home to get better care for her cancer. Her worthless hubby (won’t go into that too much – she loves him anyway) wasn’t caring for her as he should have. I don’t know why he could not take Fluffy, but I have her now.
Dolly was dumped on me a few years ago and she presented me with 4 kittens. The kittens turned 3 this month. There’s Uno (the first born in the litter) April, the other girl and the boys, Felix and Tigger. The other brother, Oscar, died from cancer at the tender age of 18 months or whatever it was. I miss him. I miss all my kids who have passed on.
Heathcliff was also dumped on me years ago. it took a few weeks to tame him, but I got him. I got Chip from another cat lady in town (but I’m the official “crazy cat lady”). I’m “fostering” Kay and Snuggles for a brother who will actually never take them back, so they’re mine now.
I swiped 3 cats from another brother while he was in the hospital after bypass surgery. I was taking care of them, going out there every day to feed them and stuff, but decided it would be easier to take them home with me. Then I never gave them back to him. That was 2 years ago. The beautiful abyssinian. Abby, was elderly and had to be put down some months later. She had renal failure. The others are Lovebug and Cassie (the best feminine version I could find for Casanova because she’s a lover too). I found out soon that Cassie was pregnant and she gave me 5 beautiful kittens. They are Joy, Beauty, Junebug, Oreo and darn it, I can’t come up with the other one’s name and my hour on the library computer is running out, so I’ll leave it at that. They will turn 2 in June. They are my youngest.
I have no “significant other” in my life, but my life is full just with these guys. I like gardening too. That’s about it.
bbearSo sorry to hear you are in pain. Sil has been in pain for years, he thought it was his back, but new tests found it was the muscles on his left side, He is on Oxy too and it is the only thing that helped. You post the best and funniest pics here! The Jesus loves me one is hilarious.
I just remembered the name of the cat I forgot before. It’s Ozzie. I also left out Gracie. Ooops!
Thank you everyone for your “welcome” messages.
MCTS – I used to have a Misty too. She was around 20 years old when she died. Her brother Tab E lived to 22 and died while sleeping on my lap. The best way for a cat to go to the next world.
Needless to say, all my kitties are “fixed” so I won’t be getting any more surprise kittens.
Ah….that cream colored cat IS Jellybean. Maybe Graham ran out of color yesterday. All is well today. LOL————————————————————QueenofAmerica GoComics PRO Member said, about 20 hours ago
The red roses have somehow dropped seeds and we now have 4 or 5 new bushes. And the roses are bigger than ever. I just took my yearly pictures of the entire back yard and south side of the house. WOW ! Everything is huge and lush. Brad really does a great job of taking care of everything. The potted flowers have bloomed. We got 2 new rose trees yesterday that will go in the big ceramic pots we got.-——————————————————————Queen…that was a nice pic you sent me via e-mail of your roses. Man, I wish my lone bush would develop suckers and spread too. Brad does a grand job!
@Laughingkitty:You are a HERO. Sounds as if you take such good, loving care of your brood.-——————————————-@Bbear:Am hoping you will get some relief sooner than later. So sorry to hear of your pain.
Hope everyone who is experiencing pain is able to get relief. I know what it’s like.Laughingkitty – here’s my story: I live in Birmingham UK with my husband and two kitties, both black males, Big Man and Bucky. I’m originally from Boston MA and go back there frequently to visit my dad, who’s 90 and in a nursing home. I stay at the house I was raised in. My cousin lives there with 5 kitties, 3 of whom were born in the backyard 10 years ago this month. My cousin also fosters kittens occasionally and provides transport for rescues. I’m off to Boston tomorrow for a month.
I, too, have many MANY cats. Currently fostering 9 kittens, bottle feeding half of them. One feral mom and her 4. All are beautiful and healthy, but consume huge amounts of my time and my wife’s time. People don’t understand week old kittens MUST be fed every two to three hours or they will die. Some we get too late and it’s difficult to lose even one. I have 7 adult house cats who are tolerant of the babies. Many “front porch” group and “back porch” group. I am afraid to total all of them. We do find homes for most of the babies. We foster for “Cause 4 Cats”. Look us up.
Thanks so much for the kitty humor. Sometimes a chuckle helps us get through very trying days and nights. Be safe and happy everyone!
Bath day today for many as kittens learning to eat on their own usually like to wear their food for a time!
