The best handshake I’ve ever received was from Clarence Clemens of the E Street Band. There’s a reason they call him “The Big Man”, and his hands were testament to that: he had the BIGGEST hands I’ve ever seen…they almost resembled bear paws! However, his handshake was so warm, sincere, firm-without-squashing-my-hand, accompanied by an unforgettable smile. Lovely man.
My upbringing taught me to give a firm handshake. I try to use caution and not be overly firm…..I have a strong grip. I can not stand a wimpy handshake where the other person simply puts his hand in yours and does not squeeze at all…..or is that some sort of Masons secret handshake?
I always had a hard time estimating how much pressure to squeeze someone’s hand with during a handshake. I COULD crush their hand like a bug and shake them like a rag doll, but should I?…
One of the most surprisingly firm handshakes I ever received was from a young woman who looked not at all capable of such a power-shake.Milo is not up to “the game,” it seems….
In a former life, I worked for a small town radio station that carried the Texas Rangers. They were playing an exhibition game with a local university team and I was sent to get promos from some of the players to plug our coverage. This is all to say the first person I met was the pitcher Jim Perry. I shook his hand and he sorta shook my forearm. I swear his hands definitely went up over my wrists they were so huge. Nice guy too.

I would prefer NO handshake most of the time.
