In’t there a Doonsbuy coming a few years where the cartoonist gave BushII a 2 week pass on criticising him in the hope he would do something presidential?
This is a great arc with the strike. We get to see scabs including some celebrities who try to audition as “replacement” characters. Nice dig by Breathed at the NFL employing scab players for 3 weeks during its strike including current NFL coach Sean Payton. Yep, he was a scab! Kind of explains why he was down with putting bounties out on opposing players while at the helm for the Saints.
Also, two characters from the strip cross the line as well if memory serves me correct.
Coming up to one of my favorite strips – Opus wanting to cross the picket line, and Milo says, ‘This is a closed shop, buster! Ya wanna work – yer union!’ Sounds just like my labor-leader grandmother, rest her soul.

I’m guessing this is a parody of the 1987 NFL players strike.
