Those McD gift certificates and the ones from their competition (BK, Burger Queen and Biff Burger) were the rage when I was a kid here on the FL Suncoast in the ‘70s right up with those from DQ. Of course I was in elementary/middle school then though I do remember the manager of the Publix I worked at as a “bottle boy” for my first job also gave out McD gift certificates to us kids at XMas time in the early ’80s so I guess I can’t hang Dallas out to dry on this one. In contrast, George Costanza topped Dallas in a Seinfeld episode when he gave out certificates telling people he gave a donation in their name to the “Human Fund” which he totally made up. That is something I would suspect Steve Dallas of doing as well.

They say that “it’s the thought that counts”, but if anyone gave me a McDonald’s gift card, it shows no thought, because anyone who knows me knows that I don’t like McDonald’s.
