Rockefeller was Gerald Ford’s VP. He dumped Rocky in 1976 when he ran on his own against Carter for Bob Dole. Controversial. The two others talked about in ’74 was two unknowns, Donald Rumsfeld and George HW Bush

I’d forgotten Nelson had been V.P., but during those years I was very busy, fresh out of college and working way more than I should have. Politics back then were just not that ’’meaningful’’ to me. Sorry Opus, Nelson died January 26, 1979 at age 70.

John Nance Garner (VP under FDR) reportedly told Lyndon Johnson that "the Vice Presidency isn’t worth a pitcher of warm spit.”How long would it take Bill to fill a pitcher? “Ack! Thppt!”

And for the first time in US history, the Presidency and Vice-Presidency were held by persons the country did not elect to those offices. Ford was appointed VP by Nixon when Agnew left and affirmed by the congress. Then Ford becomes President, when Nixon resigns. Ford then selects Rockefeller as VP and is confirmed by the congress. And that’s the rest of the story.

I wonder what penguin stew tastes like? Also, I wonder what goes into it other than a penguin?
