At some point, the “cane thieves” will have to come up with a way to realize some cash from the cane – and IF Skeezix is lucky – they will wander into the pawn shop while Skeezix is still there!
I agree – we’ll see our favorite sales clerk shortly, but somewhere along the line Skeezix trades the coin with the Pye brothers and gets the golden cane. Then the Pye brothers get the coin appraised by the pawn broker and find out it came off a costume jewelry bracelet or necklace and it’s worthless.
The stalking salesman, who’s name eludes me at the moment, is moonlighting on his days off from the jail….and is on the other side of that Pawn Shop door…along with those three Pye’s trying to hock Walt’s cane. LOL! That’s my guess, anyway ;-)
Somehow that place doesn’t strike me as the best option for having rare coins appraised. But then again, it seems like there’s more interest in the metal content than numismatic value these days.

What are the odds a certain obnoxious clerk will show up?

I’m thinking a gold cane will show up.

Are we going to hear more about the gold cane or is that story finished?

Doug Deal’s name does not come to mind first as a professional appraiser.
