Apparently Lyndon WA decided to do fireworks tonight, I can hear the pop pop across the bay. The boys are oblivious tonight so they must be getting used to that noise.
In the meantime, here is the story from last night.
It was a few minutes before 9. Brad had gone to bed to watch tv. I was getting ready to go as well when the phone rang.
It was the lady who sent one of the grey cats to jessegooddoggy.
Karen was in a bit of a panic. It appeared that someone put 2 kittens in her daughters’ garage and left them. She said they were tiny, skinny and starving. After a few min, I told her to bring them to me.
1. Yes, they were hungry, but no starving.2. not tiny. They are the same size as the ones I have3. not skinny.
They are soft, clean, very friendly. They went right for the crunchies and then I put down some wet kitten food.
One ate it, the other was more interested in the toys.
I left them and we all went outside to talk.
The daughter and husband are both allergic to cats – I know the wife was – she was already sneezing, which is why we went outside. Plus, they have 3 big dogs. The mom who called me, has a dog and cat who does not like other cats.
They were going to call Linda from the shelter at home and the mom said NO NO NO. That’s when she called me.
I told the people that if anyone asks about lost kittens, the answer is “we never saw any”. If the owners were too stupid to know better than to let babies like that out, they don’t deserve any.
They live in the foothills of Hurricane and there are coyotes out there.
This morning, everyone was sqawking for wet food. They used the litter box.
When Susan gets back today, I’ll let her know what happened. She can schedule a trip to Best Friends for spaying and shots then out for adoption. I have to weigh them, tho. I just got a new digital kitchen scale that I hope will be more accurate than the spring loaded one I had.
@bbearyesterday’s science cat photosI enjoyed the two science cat photos. I took a lot of chemistry in college, and really like reading about quantum physics stuff. So even if nobody else enjoyed the science ones, I got a good laugh out of them.
New kitten update: BOTH are females and have been spayed. And from the freshness of the shaved area and green tattoo mark, I think it was this past week.
Susan might be over today to send some email and will look at them.
If I’m right, and I’m SURE I am, she probably arranged for the spays. She’s the only one in town who sends kittens up toBest Friends. She’ll know who they belonged to.
Precious ended up hiding in the tub for awhile last evening, All personal fireworks are illegal in Denver, but someone had some and they were CLOSE. Not looking forward to this evening. Buster was so upset he decided to beat up on Precious when she finally came out of the bathroom. May just shut them in there starting about 9 pm. I enjoy the professional displays, but really hate this time of year for several reasons and having my kids so upset is one of them. Give all your fur babies hugs and kisses and let them know that this too shall pass. Keep thinking good thoughts.
The monthly newsletter from our mayor was enclosed with the utilities bill. It was one of the more idiotic ones. He started by going on and on about how hot and dry it is here; how dangerous fireworks are. Good so far, right?
Then he goes on and on saying “Whereas this and whereas that…” all about the dangers of private fireworks.
As I was reading, I kept thinking, great – this town finally gets it and is abolishing personal fireworks.
I was wrong. The second part says you can set them of for several days before and after the 4th. And, for several days before and after the 24th (July 24 is momon day in Utah. It’s actually a real holiday. The Catholics don’t get one. The Methodists don’t get one. And certainly the Jews don’t get one)
I told Brad I want to write a letter to the mayor and tell him to grow a pair, man up and make the darn things illegal.
I’ve been enjoying the comments and pictures that have been posted over the last week or so, for some reason things have been a bit manic for me for a couple of weeks and I’m hoping things will stop being like that ASAP!! (I’m going to petition Ceiling Cat if things don’t). I’ve found a few pictures in my normal browse around that (hopefully) will be enjoyed.
It’s just another day here in Britain for this transplanted American. But happily it’s quiet. We don’t get the fireworks until Guy Fawkes night Nov 5 (and for days and days before and after). I usually make sure I’m over in Boston then. Chris looks after the boys. The noise doesn’t usually bother them, and we keep them in at night all the time anyway.
Kitten story solved. Susan came over and agreed they had to have been spayed last Monday but didn’t remember taking them.. The bellies were just too newly shaved. She did her email (she does not have a computer so uses mine) and as she was getting ready to leave, it all came back to her.
About June24 or so, they were turned in at the shelter as strays. Linda forgot to hold them for 7 days and put them on the van last Monday. She never thought someone would claim them. Well, someone did call. She told them about the van and “hoped they wouldn’t be angry.” Excuse me, but $400 worth of spays and shots? Why would anyone be angry.
They picked up the babies when the van came back Wed morning.
So then last night makes the SECOND TIME they let those sweet babies out. They don’t deserved to have pets.
Linda will never know about them. They are now ours.

Nice fireworks pictures, everyone.
I set up an imgur account and baconboy told me how to post pictures from there but apparently I’m an idiot and can’t figure it out.
I’ll keep trying.
