Statistically speaking, that gun is twice as likely to shoot your avatar as to prevent a crime. Guns do not make you safe.

If a gun is a god-given right, shouldn’t we be born with one? If we all open carry would we really be safer? The chief of Dallas police said it has hard to tell the “good” guys from the shooter. None of the citizens running around with their toy guns even helped. The last panel mirrors what some posters here are doing. You tout the Second Amendment, but make excuses when it is a black guy shot. Imagine a white guy identifying he had a gun and getting shot going for his wallet.

Your avatar also contains the debunked “quote” from Yamamoto.http://www.factcheck.org/2009/05/misquoting-yamamoto/

You also shouldn’t state something is a fact that has no basis in reality. But then again, that never stopped you before.-There are a LOT of women killed by guns in domestic disputes. Negates the rest of your avatar text.

Reading these discussions is like peeping into an insane asylum. Your guns don’t make you safer, America. I can walk down any street in Europe with almost nil chance of being shot by police or criminals. I don’t need a gun to defend myself or my family. You’ve dug yourselves into a hole and don’t know how to get out.

@moderateisntleft“When you are black the cops want to kill you as being dangerous as a rabid dog.”.That’s the kind of bigotry which justifies murdering all for the perceived sins of some..Police come in many flavors.

Your guns didn’t prevent 9-11 or any of the mass shootings you’ve had since. Figures from 2002-2011 show that on average 31 people were killed annually in terrorist incidents in the US, but 11,000 were killed in gun homicides. That’s a big price to pay for your “freedom”. More Americans have died in domestic gunfire incidents since 1968 than have died in all wars since the Revolutionary War in 1775 (1,384,171 versus 1,171,177 according to factcheck.org in 2013).

I prefer a society where guns are not generally available, and not one where where an armed, untrained, bunch of wannabe policemen and women roams the streets.

The problem is that you’re stuck with your guns. You’re in an arms race with armed criminals and you have no way of backing out of it. It’s a Mexican standoff.
