If you are using lighter fluid on a grill you are wasting your time. Learn about charcoal chimneys. Quick, easy and no taste from lighter fluids. Probably less dangerous as you don’t have to store another flammable liquid in your house.

Love my charcoal chimney. I don’t even use newspaper (recyclable) in it, but rather the paper towels (irrecyclable) I used to clean up my “summer kitchen” table the previous time.

You can make a good DIY charcoal chimney from a large metal food can (large coffee or). I use an old fashioned beer can opener to punch holes spaced evenly around the bottom before cutting out the bottom. This leave you with a metal chimney with air holes at the bottom. After it is lit, use a pair of angle head pliers to lift the chimney from the hot charcoal.

Better eat something prepared in each, Louie, just to make sure you don’t play favorites …

    Good Evening, Crew.
