During WW!!, that was all you could get, because the War Effort needed the lines. Nobody complained, that I knew of. Our number was the same a four others, and ended in a “J”.
We moved from in town, small town, out to the “country” about 2 miles away from town, we had a party line, 3 of us on the line, for about, oh a year maybe? I was in Junior High School at the time. I discovered that if you picked up the phone when one of the others were on the phone, you could get an earful LOL! LOL!
And do you realize, all of us who remember party lines, are a bunch of OLD FARTS! :-D :-(
