    Van Gogh cut off his own ear…..and so he had only one ear…just as a corn stalk would have only one ear (of corn) left!

    Actually Van Gogh cut off only the lobe of his ear, not the entire ear.

    I read that van Gogh didn’t actually cut his ear off, but it was nearly torn off in a bar fight,and didn’t really lose it.

    I think Vincent was fooling around with a brush trimmer and accidentally cut his ear and wouldn’t own up to it and appear foolish so he made up the martyr hero story………… (He probably was trimming hie ear hair.)
