Good manners are the result of a considerate attitude towards others. They are the manifestation of “Do unto others”. Things like which fork, are cultural norms.
Ironically, I find that those individuals who like to point out “bad manners” in others, are often the greatest offenders themselves. Making demands of others and critiquing their actions in a public setting is far more rude than using the wrong hand/fork/whatever. Oh, and holding the door open for a lady (or anyone really) is being a gentleman. Demanding that the door be held open for you, is being a b!tch.
